Purpose and Mission

     The Neurosonology Group of the Philippine Neurological Association (NSG-PNA) is a national, professional organization representing neurologists and other neuroscientists who are dedicated to the advancement of sonographic techniques used in evaluating the nervous system.

     Its main purpose is to promote the highest standards of neurosonology in clinical practice, thereby enhancing the ongoing improvement in the delivery of neurological care in our nation. This general goal will be accomplished through scientific and educational programs, publications, practice guidelines and evaluation of competency by an accrediting body formed by the society. The NSG-PNA supports the right of qualified neurologists to utilize the neurosonology modalities for the evaluation and management of their patients. Likewise, the rights of patients with neurological disorders to have access to the appropriate neurosonology modalities and qualified neurologists using them will be strongly upheld.

     The group will provide basic and advanced scientific educational programs in future annual meetings. These activities will focus on the educational needs of neurologists in practice and training as regards the study of the nervous system using a variety of neurosonological techniques. Emphasis shall be placed on the correlation of clinical data with the information derived from the different methods used in neurosonology and on the updating of algorithms paving the way to a cost-effective and efficient use of neurosonology in the clinics and the academe.
