BERT LAHR as Cowardly Lion and Zeke. Originally Vaudeville and Broadway actor. Wore almost 100 lbs. of costume made of real lion skin. Tail manipulated by fishing pole. Played Lays Potato Chip in 60's tv commercial. Died at 72 of intestinal hemorrhage.
FRANK MORGAN as the Wizard, Professor Marvel, Doorkeeper, Cabby, and Soldier/Guard. WC Fields was MGM's first choice. Died at 59 while playing Buffalo Bill in Annie Get Your Gun.
MARGARET HAMILTON as Wicked Witch of the West and Miss Gulch. Taught elementary before acting. Gale Sondergaard MGM's first choice. Made more than 60 movies. Cora in Maxwell House commercials. Died at 82 of heart attack.
BILLIE BURKE as Glinda the Good Witch. Made more than 80 films. 2 autobiographies. Died at 84 of heart failure.
