| Howdy! Thanks for stopping by Josh’s Coon Hunting Pages. As you might have guessed this little web site is all about my favorite sport and pastime; coon hunting. I’ve been both pleasure and competition hunting for about 5 years. I competition hunt in both U.K.C (United Kennel Club) and P.K.C (Professional Kennel Club) Nite Hunts. I try to go pleasure hunting a couple of nights a week if I have the time and I try to hit a Nite Hunt or two a month. I used to coon hunt a lot more than I do now, I just don’t have as much time as I used to, so I don’t get to hunt as much. I hunt English Coon Hounds which is one of the six breeds of coon hounds. The other five breeds are Plotts, Black & Tans, Redbones, Blueticks, and Treeing Walkers. I’m not saying that English hounds have more ability than any of the other five breeds, but they are just the breed that I like the best. So, there what I choose to hunt. If you would like to learn more about English Coon hounds you should click here and go to U.K.C's web site where you will find a ton of information on English Hounds as well as the other 5 breeds of coon hounds. In the photo above (Top Right) is my 3 year old English Gyp, 'PR Ervin's Lila. She is the dog I am hunting now. She's a pretty fair little hound, I've put a couple of places on her in U.K.C and hope to finish her to Nite Champion this Fall. If you are curious about how Nite Hunts (competition hunts) work you can click here and read the 2001/2002 U.K.C Nite Hunt rules. Within the pages of this site you will find some photos of some of my coon hunts, explanations of commonly used coon hunting terms, and some coon hunting related links. I will be updating this site as often as I can so don't forget to check back. |
