The Lord Mayor of Liverpool's trip to Givenchy and Paris - July 1929
The following is the last chance saloon for an oddity bought at a book fair in Crosby last year. It wasn't even a book, but a home made exercise book with two little 20s style croc clips binding the covers and contents. For those who like reading the personal notes and diaries of 1920s dignitaries, well this is right up your street. This is all about the goodwill visit made by the Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Henry Morley Miller, ESQ, his wife and party, to Givenchy and Paris via London - 5th to the 12th of July, 1929. (What a day to come back!)
Like any old doc / book etc badly stored, this had to be treated to a liberal dose of contrast etc, otherwise it would have been too weak; OCRing for greater clarity / ease of reading would have been nice, but - 1. No time - 2. Would spoil the authenticity. So - scanned images is what you get here, but they are perfectly ok.
Anyhoo, digression enough; if you like Pickwick's Papers, then, think of the carriages and luncheons as they trundled around the country; this real life trundle is much the same. Enjoy, or perhaps - Bon Voyage!
