Whistler,
BC
On Saturday December 15th 2001 we left Portland, OR to drive to Whistler, Canada. We started driving at 9pm that night. We drove all through the night and alternated drivers. We arrived in Whistler at 5am and checked into the hotel. We were not originally able to check into the hotel until 4pm, but they were really nice so they let us check in that morning. So we unloaded all of our stuff and got ready for skiing.
On the first day JJ was having trouble with his new bindings so he called it a early day and headed back to the hotel. Trisha was having trouble with her ski's so she called it a day also, good thing she brought another set. I spent most of the first day showing Alfredo and Jana how to snowboard. And for all of those who know me, will understand that I enjoy doing this and don't mind it.
The second day we got up early to get our day started. It was snowing outside. Me, Trisha, Adrian, Sarah and Jana headed up Blackcomb to start our day. It was JJ's turn to teach Alfredo today. We skied around Blackcomb but found that we liked Whistler better, mainly because the Gondola goes all the way to the top. One thing that I would recommend and I'm glad we bought was the walkie talkies. They came in so handy to let people know where everyone was at.

When we would go back to the hotel people would come back staggering from a hard day of snowboarding. It was so nice I could not have asked for more perfect weather. We had powder to our waist and even to our shoulders in some areas. I know this because I was stuck in it and had to swim out of it. It kind of sucked and it was so cool at the same time. When I got back to the hotel, everyone was sleeping all over the place. And you do not want to fall asleep around your friends when they are armed with a camera as shown below. We brought all of our own food and made our own meals.

After a long day all the men would head down to the hot tub for a beer and a good time. We needed to soak our bones and loosen up. The women didn't want to join us because they think that hot tubs are disgusting due to peoples germs cooking in the warm water. Sounds good to me, EH.

All and all this was one of the best vacations I have had. I wish we would have stayed longer, a lot of us were hoping to get snowed in. There was good people and good times, I would highly recommend it to anyone. This trip has now become an annual event for us. We would like to thank Jana, Sarah, Alfredo, JJ and Adrian for making this trip the best.
