Lava Canyon

Mt. Saint Helens, WA

On September 16, 2001 Trisha and I went to Mt Saint Helens in Washington to hike lava canyon. Lava Canyon is an area of Saint Helens where most of the lava flowed when it erupted on May 18, 1980. There is a bunch of waterfalls there and it is amazing to see trees growing out of solid rock. The hike was only three miles in, so a total of 6 miles. It has a danger factor though that keeps you on your toes. The paths are really thin in some spots, with a 20-40ft drop on the side. The hike was pretty cool but I would only rate it a 5. Here are some of the pictures that we took, The ones of both of us, we used a tripod for the first time. I will definitely take one from now on. Enjoy.
