Mt.
Adams Climb
On the weekend of July 14th me and six other climbers ascended to the top of Mt Adams. Here's the specs, stolen from Adrian's site.
* Summit Elevation: 12,276 feet
* Location: Washington State
* Last Eruption: over 3,500 years ago
We spent the night in camp Friday night, I was the last one to show up. I tried to take a short cut down some forest trails and it ended up taking me longer. Stan (my father in law) had to blow up his air mattress with his mouth because I had the pump and I didn't get there till 10 pm. We woke up Saturday morning to start our climb at 6 am.
The funniest part of the climb is the false summit. It is the part of the climb where you can not see the real summit. So the whole time you are climbing to the false summit you are thinking that you are almost done. Then you get to the top and you find out that you have more to climb, how rude.
We finally made it to the top of the summit by 2:30 PM and we spent about two hours up there taking pictures.
While I was at the top I also took a panoramic picture of the summit. Just click here for the picture. You should be able to see Mt Hood on the left Mt. St. Helens in the middle and Mt Rainer on the right.
Then on the way down we were able to slide most of the way on our bums. It was a lot of fun and a lot easier than going up.
