Hey everybody,
It is a while ago, that you received soon news from me. Let I share you
my story. It’s going well with me. In spite of my busy time studying, I still
enjoy of the things of what God is giving me. Let me give you a brief review.
After I left the Netherlands, I spend a week with a friend of mine. I
was in the Southwest part of the States, New Mexico. Thanks Sarah, It was an
awesome time! It really helped me to recoup from the busy time at home and I
enjoy of the goodness and greatness of God. After that week, I went up to the
northwest part of the States to Lakeside, Montana.
On Monday, September 11th, we
started the School of Biblical Studies (or shall I say Biblical Suffering). Our
school started with 30 students and 12 staff members. This semester we are
handling most of the books from the New Testament. We discuss the books from the
Bible one by one and we read those books at least 5 times. The first time aloud
(I do this together with a group of 5 persons) and after that, we look at the
text in the way called inductive Bible study. Most of the time I read the books
more than 5 times. English is not my native language and our Dutch Bible is not
a good translation. It was written in 1952, in the Old Dutch. You can compare it
to the King James Version. We also have to look to the timeless truths and
historical background in each book. We look at material like: how did they live
in those days, what was their situation in that time and more information that
can help you interpret the book better. Most of the time I study long hours
(more than usual), but I don’t care. It is more than rewarding. Most of the
time we have just one week to do the book and when we are too late we are out of
luck. We’ve missed your change.
But
God is in this study and
that’s the best of all. If you are hitting a wall or do not see any light at
the end of the tunnel, He is there. It is so awesome to know that. I’ve
finished every book so far, even if I just made the deadline.
I am pleased with my grades. For every book I got a B, except one. Not
bad for a foreigner, huh?
We finished most of the books already and in a couple of weeks it will
be Christmas. It is a wonderful thought that the time flies by and before I know
it, I will have finished the SBS.
Even if I have no time right now to do a lot of fun things, I know that
after this school there will be a new season for me. I know that God will guide
me into it.
Also, I have become a youth pastor in the church I visit here. This is
the same church I visited when I was here before. The children are aged between
13 and 18 years old. It`s very exciting to be doing this, and we enjoy having
discussions together.
· Discernment for God’s Word, and the English language.
· Finances for my third semester.
· Continued guidance for the next step after the SBS.
