The Anastasis is the flagship of four ships. On this ship there are three
operating rooms, a dental clinic, a laboratory, an X-ray unit and 1,500 ton
capacity cargo holds. We (Mercy Ships) try to bring physical and spiritual
healing to the poor and needy in port cities around the world. This ministry
encourages societal change by following Christ's example, mobilizing
volunteers to serve others through medical care, relief, community
development training and evangelism. She is for 5 months in West Africa to
help the poorest people of that continent. We perform free operations for
people who are outcast of their society (I've seen 3 operations, when I
served in Benin and took a series of photos as well). We remove
cancer-tumor, cataract, cleflips, etc. We do only the face because that is
the sign to the outside world. We also give free dental care, medical
supplies, clothing, food, seeds, construction materials, training and a

We all are volunteers and we must pay around $250, = each month (West-Europe
and America). For people from Africa, South America and East Europe I don't
know what the costs are). The ship is like a little town on the sea. You can
volunteer as short-term or long-term crew. You can serve from 2 weeks till ?
years.
