The Real Me
I keep my paint brush with me wherever I may go
In case I need to cover up so the real me don’t show
I’m so afraid to show you me afraid of what you’ll do
That you might laugh or say mean things I’m afraid that
I might lose you
I’d like to remove all my paint coats and show you the real me
I want you to understand that I need you to accept what you see
Please understand how much it hurts to reveal to let you see
The real me
Now my coats are stripped away I’m naked bare and cold
And if you still love me with my soul laid bare for the world to see
Then please understand this brush I must keep in hand even around
You who love me true you my family until the time that I can learn
To love the real me
