In the language of Jung and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), there are people who are more Intuitive and others who are more Sensing, people who are more Perceiving and others who are more Judging. (These are defined at greater length in Some Introductory Concepts of Psychology.) Sensing folk are likely to follow the path that is laid out for them, and if they can't follow the steps that take the writer (and reader) from one section to another they may give up or get angry or frustrated. Intuitive folk, faced with a similar lack of fit, are likely to conduct a search or run off to a different section or a different site altogether. The better the search mechanism of the site is the more they will get from it, but nothing is likely to prevent the intuitive person from jumping off the site because an idea cropped up during the reading. Judging folk tend to prefer answers to questions, closed to open-ended. Endless exploration without conclusions is a surefire way to irritate. Perceiving folks, conversely, prefer the more open-ended. Exploring without being required to take a stand allows them to peruse to their hearts' content. In the hope of meeting many types' approaches (or needs?), this tutorial is constructed with both a direct progression and several more winding paths. Choosing a PathBefore we go further, for those whose MBTI type is unknown, take a few minutes to take this test. It is not definitive. (Indeed, none of them are more than a snapshot of who you are when you take the test, really.) It will, probably give you a sense of which path is (IMNSHO) a better fit for you!A Sensing Pathway(data to be entered after more of the tutorial is finished) Intuitive Pathways(data to be entered after more of the tutorial is finished) A Judging Pathway(data to be entered after more of the tutorial is finished) Perceiving PathwaysOf course, the important thing to remember is that you can check out the other pathways, to see how you like them, or wander on your own, totally. Sometimes, I like to go to the Index page or the Glossary and choose from there, rather than from links on a particular page.(more data to be entered after more of the tutorial is finished) OtherFor some reason, not everybody likes these options. Go figure... Click here for a new page with a random suggestion for where to go! |
