Scott Renfield
Ive been a home haunter for about the last 18 years, either hosting parties or doing the yard haunt thing. It wasnt until about 4 years ago, however, when I discovered the Hall-L that my obsession grew to its current proportions.3 years ago we decided to expand beyond the cemetery & constructed a mad scientists lab in the garage. Then,in 03 we changed both our theme & design, constructing a maze with the new theme of Professor Renfield & Sons Haunted Circus. My lifelong interest in audio, particularly sound effects, means that pretty much every prop & maze zone has its own ambience track. My goal for this year,in addition to constructing an assortment of new props & animating the static ones from last year,is to create a web site. That is,as soon as my FCG is done...
I'm Amie Romano, aka the Lairkeeper,& I have been putting on "the Revenants' Lair" for about 9 years now,but have been "over-decorating" for the holiday for much longer. As a child,my parents let me enjoy Halloween the way I wanted to.They never quite understood (& still don't,though I think after 32 yrs, they're starting to get it!),but they never said no to anything I wanted to do decoration-wise.Thank you mom & dad!!
My oldest son shares my love of the holiday,he's 4 & always wants to see "my scary guys".I kid you not, when he was about a year & a half old & starting to put words together, his first combination of words was "Trick or Treat". This was as we were packing to move to a new apartment,he picked up my little black cauldron that I pass out candy from,& said it.Mind you,he'd never been ToTing in his young little life,& had only seen a handful of ToTs show up at our door that *1* previous Halloween (he slept through his first H'ween)!I knew then, that he was going to love it as much as I do.Of course,he also liked to take my GITD skull into the closet & sit in the dark with it,saying "oooooh, faaaaace!".He's going to love this bio when he's old enough to be embarrassed by it, LOL.
We do have a temporary website, which is a combo paranormal discussion/halloween obsession message group--however,it has a small membership & I am pretty much the only 1 who ever talks there: http://groups.msn.com/theRevenantsLair.I do hope to expand the site in the near future & make the haunt section of it something to be proud of.Of course,I have to get my scanner & digital camera to cooperate with my computer, first!
While the Lair wasn't in production between the years of 00-02,we are back up & running & collecting & building more eye-catching items for our ToTs to be awed by.We're not the best or biggest out there by far,but we have always been the best in the neighborhood,& that's good enough for me.With the help of the geniuses at the Hall-L, we will continue to expand & amaze! The Revenants' Lair scene takes place in an abandoned cemetery, with the haunted caretaker's house in the background,& of course we are the spectral caretaker's family who are bound to the house for all eternity.Walk with us for a bit, won't you? Our location for 04 is in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, IL.
