| Our second supercard is in the books and what a night it was! -------------------------------------------------------------- Bill Goldberg vs ??? -------------------------------------------------------------- Before we could do anything, Bill Goldberg walked out with a microphone in hand. He proceeded to tell us that Destruction had quit the day before and that means Goldberg would not be able to Jackhammer his ass. So to make up for it he challenged anybody in the arena to a match. To make it even more interesting he said that the "Loser Leaves Town" rules would be in affect! Nobody came out and Goldberg started to call them all chicken and afraid of behing speared into the mat. ENTER THE GLADIATOR!!! The Gladiator just steam rolled into the ring and the match was on. Both men's careers were on the line here and both worked as hard as they ever had before. It was finally Goldberg going for the Spear, but The Gladiator simply lifted his foot up causing Goldberg to run right into The Gladiator's raised boot. Goldberg staggered back, but The Gladiator smelled blood and quickly put a boot into Goldberg's stomach and then picked him up and dropped him with an Awesome Bomb. 3 seconds later and Goldberg's career in the WWA was over. Match Loser-Leaves-Town Match: The Gladiator pinned Bill Goldberg with the Awesome Bomb in 0:18:27. Rating: ** -------------------------------------------------------------- Robert Thompson vs D-Lo Brown WWA TV TITLE ON THE LINE -------------------------------------------------------------- Robert Thompson continued his hot streak here tonight by defeating D-Lo Brown. D-Lo did put up one hell of a fight, but Robert just outwrestled him to get the win. Afterwards Robert got on the mic and said that there was nobody in the WWA that could come close to his talent and nobody would take the TV Title from him and that included Owen Hart and Jyushin Lyger. Robert Thompson pinned D-Lo Brown with the Double Arm DDT in 0:12:53. Rating: * 1/2 (Robert Thompson retained the WWA Television Title.) -------------------------------------------------------------- The Extremists vs The Untouchables WWA TAG TITLES ON THE LINE -------------------------------------------------------------- Ace Darling and Devon Storm then went at it with the rather impressive Untouchables. These two teams have been feuding ever since Raging Rumble and tonight they would be able to settle their differences. Both teams put out all they had and it looked as if The Untouchables would walk away with the titles after Corino nailed his Dragon Suplex onto Darling, but the count was broken up when The Gangstanators ran into the ring. They started brawling with both teams with their assorted weapons. As Kronus was brawling with Devon Storm and Steve Strong, New Jack hit Corino over the head with a trashcan. After that Corino was out on his feet. Darling simply came up from behind, hooked his arms around Corino's waist, and brought him back with his German Suplex. The ref delivered a quick 3 count, just wanting to get out of the ring. New Jack and Kronus then continued to lay a beating to both teams before leaving. However, Devon Storm and Ace Darling held onto their tag titles once again. I know Commissioner Cooper won't be happy about this. Ace Darling and Devon Storm defeated The Untouchables when Darling pinned Corino with the German Suplex in 0:07:05. Rating: ** 1/4 (Ace Darling and Devon Storm retained the WWA World Tag Team Titles.) -------------------------------------------------------------- The Gladiator vs Jyushin Lyger GRUDGE MATCH -------------------------------------------------------------- Next up was The Gladiator doing battle with Jyushin Lyger. The Gladiator had already had one match tonight, but that was his fault. Lyger capitalized on this and kept The Gladiator on defense most of the match. The Gladiator is known for his offense and is hardly ever on the defensive side and it showed here tonight as he could barely block any of Liger's devastating moves. Lyger kept it up until he made one mistake. He whipped The Gladiator into the turnbuckle and charged in with a koppo kick, but The Gladiator moved out of the way at the last second. The Gladiator, sensing that this maybe his only oppurtunity, quickly picked Lyger up and called for his Awesome Bomb. He got him up on his shoulders, but Lyger slid out from behind. The Gladiator turned around only to be hit with a kick to the midsection. Lyger proceeded to do what many people thought was impossible, he picked him up and dropped him with the Lyger Bomb!!! POP OF THE GODS FROM THE FANS! Lyger limped over and hooked a leg... 1... 2... KICKOUT!!! Lyger was in a state of shock. He picked The Gladiator back up and executed another impressive move, a fisherman's buster!!! The Gladiator's neck looked like it hit at the wrong angle and he wasn't moving at all. Lyger made anothe cover. 1... 2... KICKOUT!!! WHAT THE HELL!?! The Gladiator won't stay down!!! Lyger was getting very frustrated and picked The Gladiator up again by the hair. He then picked him in suplex fashion, but instead of falling back, he just fell straight down with a brain buster!!! The Gladiator was holding his neck and screaming out in pain. Lyger didn't try for another cover, instead he picked him up again in the Lyger Bomb and started running...RUNNING LYGER BOMB!!! 1... 2... 3!!! JYUSHIN LYGER WITH A HUGE WIN! Lyger simply left the ring and let the fan's cheers sink in while The Gladiator was left on the mat. He had already wrestled Goldberg and now had just basically got his ass kicked due to him being tired from his first match. He didn't move for several minutes, but then the fans did something that shocked me, they started chanting The Gladiator's name! Finally after 3-4 minutes The Gladiator got back up to his feet and limped to the back, all the while holding his neck. I don't know if this feud is over, but everybody here has gained a ton of respect for not only Lyger but The Gladiator as well. Jyushin Lyger pinned The Gladiator with the Running Lyger Bomb in 0:09:55. Rating: **** -------------------------------------------------------------- The Giant and Chris Benoit vs Frank Shamrock and a mystery partner -------------------------------------------------------------- We then saw The Giant and Chris Benoit come out for their match with Frank Shamrock and his mystery opponent. The Giant and Benoit were arguing the whole way down the aisle and alot of people were questioning their teaming ability. Next up we saw Frank Shamrock come out...by himself! Frank looked kind of worried and it would not be good for him if he was alone in the ring with The Giant and Chris Benoit. The Giant grabbed a mic and told Shamrock that this handi-cap match wouldn't even be fun. Frank then got on the mic and asked The Giant why he thought it was him with the handi-cap? At this point Benoit clipped The Giant's knee from behind!!! The crowd was stunned as was I. Shamrock and Benoit started to lay the boots to The Giant and soon The Giant was busted wide open. Benoit simply picked The Giant up and then dropped him with an impressive fisherman's buster and hooked a leg and scored the 3 count. Frank then continued to lay the boots to The Giant while Benoit went to the outside and grabbed a chair. He entered the ring and Shamrock picked up The Giant and then hooked his arms. Benoit wound up and swung...THE GIANT DUCKED...Benoit nailed Shamrock!!! Benoit just looked down at him and shrugged. Benoit nailed Shamrock with the chair again!!! Benoit continued to smash him with chair shots until The Giant got back to his feet, but Benoit sent him back down with a chair shot. Benoit then left, leaving The Giant and Frank Shamrock in the middle of the ring. Handicap-Match: Frank Shamrock and Chris Benoit defeated The Giant when Chris Benoit pinned Giant after a fisherman's buster in 0:02:01. -------------------------------------------------------------- 20 Man Battle Royal WWA UNIVERSAL TITLE ON THE LINE -------------------------------------------------------------- We then had our 20 man Battle Royal for the Universal Title. Things started off on a fast note when New Jack gained a bit of revenge by eliminating Devon Storm in only a minute. Things slowed down for awhile with The Gladiator going after Lyger with a vengeance, New Jack and Kronus doing battle with Ace Darling, Frank Shamrock, The Giant, and Benoit all doing battle with eachother as were others. Things got back to a fast pace when Ken Shamrock simply threw Steve Strong over the top. A little bit later D-Lo was brawling with Steve Corino when Shamrock got him from behind with a back suplex. Shamrock then picked D-Lo up and hurled him over the top. Shamrock was doing pretty well in the Battle Royal. Steve Corino was laughing at D-Lo's expense which wasn't smart as Ace Darling got him from behind with a forearm to the back. He then hit an inverted powerbomb to the outside. Corino landed hard and it looked like he might be hurt. Of course D-Lo didn't care as he started stomping on the back of Corino's neck. Out came Steve Strong who started to brawl with D-Lo. While those two were brawling Ace Darling got rid of another person in Little Dragon. The Giant, Benoit, and Frank were all still brawling and refused to break it up. That is until Owen Hart came over and tried to attack Frank. Bad choice as Frank simply turned around and grabbed Owen by the hair and threw him over the top. Frank then went back to fighting it out with the other two. Owen was tempted to get back in the ring except he saw D-Lo brawling with The Untouchables so he ran over and tried to help D-Lo out. Lyger and The Gladiator continued to brawl, but it was pretty obvious that The Gladiator was just too tired. Lyger dropped him with a Frankensteiner, but instead of capitalizing he went over and attacked Kid Guzman who was helping Pablo on trying to eliminate Kronus. Lyger tore Guzman away and picked him and dropped him with a powerbomb. Lyger picked Guzman back up and threw him over. Pablo turned around and saw that Lyger had eliminated his partner which caused a short brawl. Lyger easily won it by finishing Pablo off with a Lyger Bomb. Instead of eliminating him he went over and went to work on Kronus, eventually eliminating him. New Jack saw this and ran over and started to brawl with Lyger. Meanwhile back over with The Giant/Benoit/Shamrock brawl the first elimination happened. The Giant went to blast Benoit with a lariat, but Benoit ducked and The Giant hit Shamrock. Shamrock was close to falling out from the impact as he was nailed with a dropkick by Benoit. That was enough for Frank as he fell over the top rope and to the floor. Benoit didn't look back and started to brawl it out again with The Giant. I wonder what Malenko thinks about Benoit's turn? New Jack and Jyushin Lyger were brawling around when Billy Kidman decided he would try and enter the battle. Unfortunately for him New Jack didn't want him involved so he grabbed him by the hair and threw him over the top. Several seconds later Ken Shamrock seemed to have seen an opening and charged at New Jack, but New Jack simply ducked and Ken went flying over the top. This meant that both Shamrock's were eliminated. Ken was obviously pissed at being eliminated and tried to get back in the ring, but was held back by officials. Lyger and New Jack then continued their brawling. A couple of minutse later The Gladiator tossed Bob Holly over the top with ease. Thing seemed to slow down a bit after this. New Jack and Lyger split up with Lyger brawling with The Gladiator, New Jack doing battle with Darling, Benoit with The Giant, and Cobra with Pablo Marquez. The latter two surprised everybody with staying in the ring this far. Ace Darling ended up knocking New Jack off of his feet with an enzuguiri and then went over and charged at Benoit with a clothesline. As luck would have it, it connected and Benoit was sent over the top. The Giant was semi-pissed at Darling for eliminating Benoit, as it seemed he wanted to do that himself. This led to The Giant headbutting Darling and following it up with a devastating legdrop. The Gladiator and Jyushin Lyger had also shocked everybody by still being in there. Mainly The Gladiator who had already beaten Goldberg and wrestled Lyger in a very gruesome match. The Gladiator used whatever endurance he had left by picking Lyger up and dropping him with an Awesome Bomb. He then went over and picked up the limp body of New Jack and threw him over. This gave us 6 men. Since The Gladiator left Lyger there was nobody there to protect him from a bunch of scavengers like Pablo Marquez and Cobra. They both walked over and picked up Lyger and tossed him over. A huge elimination as Lyger was alot of people's pick. The Giant had just tossed Darling into a corner and saw an opening so he hit a DROPKICK on Cobra's back. The force sent him sailing right over the top. 4 people were left and what a foursome. The Giant, The Gladiator, Pablo Marquez, and Ace Darling. They all circled eachother for awhile with Pablo praying to get paired off with Ace. As luck would have it that is exactly what happened. The two big men started brawling while the two lightweights exchanged some high-flying moves. At this point the favorite was The Giant. It could of been The Gladiator, but with him already wrestling two matches it wasn't looking good for him. You could see the sweat just falling off of him. Many people were wondering why he wasn't falling down from exhaustion. The Giant easily got the advantage over him and ended up going for his Choke Slam. However, The Gladiator somehow countered it with a kick to the groin. The Giant let go of The Gladiator and bent over in pain. Perfect position ... The Gladiator simply put his head between his legs and did the impossible. He put The Giant in a powerbomb position!!! AWESOME BOMB TO THE OUTSIDE!!!!!!! THE GIANT IS GONE!!!! The crowd was jumping out of their seats and cheering The Gladiator on. Meanwhile on the other side of the ring, most likely by fluke, Ace Darling was eliminated by Pablo Marquez. The question was, did The Gladiator have enough left in him to eliminate Pablo? The answer was yes as Pablo simply charged in on The Gladiator and all he had to do was duck and Pablo went flying over the top and landed hard on his back in the first row. THE GLADIATOR HAS JUST WON THE WWA UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!! The Gladiator could hardly get to his feet to accept the title. Owen Hart and D-Lo Brown ran out and hoisted him on their shoulders. The celebration began as The Gladiator had done the impossible. Not only had he beaten Goldberg and sent him packing, not only had he kicked out of a Lyger Bomb, not only could he enter the rumble, not only did he eliminate The Giant with an Awesome Bomb, but he won the whole damn thing!!! The Gladiator is the future of the WWA and the wrestling world. Too Cold Scorpio was bound determined to beat the hell out of Malenko until Malenko gave him some respect. That is basically what happened as Scorpio started the match out by tackling Malenko and pounding the crap out of him. Scorpio also went to the air and Scorpio dominated the first 4 minutes of action. Things slowed down, however, when Malenko ducked under a missile dropkick. Malenko capitalized on this by working on the leg of Scorpio. Malenko continually worked over the leg and hit several dropkicks right into his knee. Scorpio was soon screaming in pain and the referee was tempted to stop the match. Scorpio wouldn't let this happen and tried to get himself back in the match. Scorpio ended up seeing an opening and brought Malenko to the floor when he side-stepped a dropkick to the knee and brought down his own leg across Malenko's face with a legdrop. Scorpio hurt his knee even more with that move, but still kept up the pressure. Neither man could keep the advantage for very long and so the match went, whenever Malenko took the advantage he would work over the leg of Scorpio while when Scorpio took it he used his limited offense to keep Malenko on the mat. At about the 20 minute mark out came The Giant. He was stopped by Frank Shamrock and those two brawled around the arena. Enter Chris Benoit!!! Benoit came out with a chair and he didn't look happy. He entered the ring and promptly just nailed the referee with a chair. Malenko and Scorpio both got to their feet and looked at Benoit. Benoit lifted the chair above his head and...BROUGHT IT DOWN ON SCORPIO!!! Scorpio fell like a sack of bricks and Benoit left the ring and went back to the locker rooms!!! Malenko was still questioning Benoit's antics, but quickly hooked Scorpio in the Texas Cloverleaf regardless. Out came another referee who lifted and dropped Scorpio's arm three times. Malenko retains the gold! Frank Shamrock and The Giant ended up brawling into the ring where Malenko helped The Giant dispose of Frank courtesy of a dropkick to the knee. Frank grabbed ahold of his knee and was wide open for a Choke Slam which was delivered by The Giant. Malenko and The Giant then left, leaving Frank Shamrock and Too Cold Scorpio laying, obviously looking for Chris Benoit. Dean Malenko made Too Cold Scorpio submit to the Texas Cloverleaf in 0:23:10. Rating: *** (Dean Malenko retained the WWA World Title.) |
