| --------------------------------------------------------------------- Cobra vs DROZ~!BERG~! --------------------------------------------------------------------- The show started off with Droz going at it with Cobra. Both men haven't had the best luck here in the WWA and both of them wanted to pick up a win. Droz eventually made the same mistake he made on Monday, by putting his head down way too early for a backdrop, but instead of a piledriver, he was hit with a DDT. Droz seemed to be out of it as Cobra made the cover, but before the 3 count could be delivered Dave Taylor ran out with a chair in hand. He quickly smashed it across Cobra's back and then smashed the face of Droz. Both men were knocked silly while Taylor left apparently proud of himself. The referee really couldn't DQ anybody since Taylor had hit both men. Droz ended up being the first man up and decided it was time to finish it. He picked Cobra up and dropped him with a powerbomb. 3 seconds later and Droz had finally picked up his first win. Taylor actually helped Droz get his first win because I don't think Droz was going to kick out of that DDT. Hopefully everything will come to a close at Free For All when Dave Taylor goes one on one with Droz. Darren Drozdov pinned Cobra with the Power Bomb in 0:09:25. Rating: -1/2* --------------------------------------------------------------------- Billy Kidman vs Brian Christopher --------------------------------------------------------------------- Billy Kidman wasn't at all happy with Little Dragon after Monday and he showed it here tonight as he went at it with Brian Christopher. Christopher is another one of those dynamic lightweights who could take the title when the tournament takes place. The tournament is rumored to start up on Monday and it won't be singles elimination...it is going to be a round robin tournament! Kidman and Christopher both are top contenders so it would be interesting to see who could come out on top. Kidman was definately the faster of the two, but Christopher kept Kidman on the mat for most of the match. He even hit his dad's favorite move, the Piledriver, but Kidman kicked out of it after a 2 and a 1/2 count. Christopher eventually went for his Tennessee Jam, but he hadn't worn Kidman down enough and Kidman was quick to get to his feet and hurl Christopher off of the top turnbuckle. Kidman then picked Christopher up and dropped him with a back suplex right next to the turnbuckle. Kidman climbed to the top and came sailing off with the Seven Year Itch. That was all it took to give Kidman the win. Christopher must of had his mind set on other things, such as Scott Taylor. Taylor didn't show up after the match, but Christopher was definately looking for him. Billy Kidman pinned Brian Christopher with the Seven Year Itch in 0:05:07. Rating: * 3/4 --------------------------------------------------------------------- The Head Bangers vs The Mexican Jumping Beans --------------------------------------------------------------------- The Head Bangers have their second match here in the WWA against the jobber team known as The Mexican Jumping Beans. Mosh and Thrasher pretty much dominated the entire matchup. Pablo Marquez and Kid Guzman eventually made a small comeback, hitting a double superplex on Thrasher. Thrasher got out in 2, however. Pablo eventually made a mistake, going for a moonsault, but Thrasher rolled out of the way and made the tag to Mosh. Mosh climbed to the top and came sailing off with a flying legdrop. That was all it took to finish The Mexican Jumping Beans off. Not an overly good match. The Headbangers defeated The Mexican Jumping Beans when Mosh pinned Marquez with the Top Rope Legdrop in 0:20:48. Rating: ** Before our next match could get underway, Too Cold Scorpio came out with a microphone in hand. He entered the ring and started this sudden interview. "I have come out here for the simple reason that I feel I have been forgotten. The reason is most likely because I am not the World Champion. If everybody could just remember back to Winterfest you'll remember that I had Malenko beat and was just seconds away from becoming the Heavyweight Champion when Chris Benoit stuck his ugly face into the ring. Benoit, you cost me that title and for that I can never forgive you. That is also why I came out here tonight. It is very clear that the WWA is grooming you to be the next person to get a shot at the Heavyweight Title. You will either go onto face Malenko or Frank Shamrock at the supercard after Free For All. Well, we all know the only reason you are getting a title shot is because you turned on Malenko. If not for that you would still be feuding with Kidman and other lightweights. You didn't turn on Malenko because of The Giant, you turned on him because you knew that was the only way you were going to get a title shot. I don't blame you. But did you have to start it at Winterfest? Couldn't you of waited a day later? I want my revenge and when I beat you tonight then maybe the WWA will think about giving me my rematch instead of giving your unworthy ass a title shot." With that Chris Benoit came out: Chris Benoit: "Scorpio, I don't know what the hell your problem is, but if you had a problem with me then why didn't you bring it up earlier? It's been about 2 weeks since Winterfest and you are just now bringing this up? Then you have the nerve to say I don't deserve any title shots I get. Man, you can talk to the hand. (the list will like that :) ) I have proven myself continually and I have beaten every single guy they have put up in front of me. I turned on Malenko because he has gotten greedy and is hanging out with that stupid son of a bitch. Scorpio, I am going to prove you wrong tonight so just show up and I will kick your ass." And with that we had another match signed for tonight. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Robert Thompson vs Steve Strong WWA TV TITLE ON THE LINE --------------------------------------------------------------------- Robert Thompson has been a good to great TV Champ. He has also shown that he likes to work on his own. He proved that when he attacked Lyger when Lyger tried to save him from an attack from the Nation. Tonight he would be working on his own against Steve Strong of the Untouchables. Strong showed a side of himself tonight that we hadn't seen before. He was simply brutal!!! He pounded on Thompson from one side of the ring to the other. Thompson barely had time to breathe. Thompson eventually got a little break by low blowing Strong. Thompson got up and quickly went to work, hitting several kicks right into Steve's face and then dropped him with a piledriver. Enter Owen Hart! Owen Hart came down with a chair in hand and he had something planned. Thompson couldn't keep the pressure up and Strong made a comeback. He soon hit him with a devastating powerslam and it looked like it would be the end for Thompson, but Owen Hart distracted the referee! JYUSHIN LYGER IS COMING OUT FROM THE CROWD! Lyger climbs to the top rope! He sails off with a flying legdrop onto the back of Strong's neck! Lyger puts Thompson on top of Strong and leaves the ring and runs to the back. Owen Hart gets off of the ring apron and also walks back to the locker room. The referee turns around and makes the 3 count giving Thompson the win. Unfortunately it wasn't clean and we could of had a new TV Champion in Steve Strong had it not been for Owen Hart and Jyushin Lyger. Were they actually working together? Robert Thompson pinned Steve Strong with the Double Arm DDT in 0:15:11. Rating: * (Robert Thompson retained the WWA Television Title.) --------------------------------------------------------------------- Too Cold Scorpio vs Chris Benoit --------------------------------------------------------------------- Too Cold Scorpio now had the chance to get his revenge and perhaps beat a major contender to the World Title. Chris Benoit wouldn't go down easily, however. It is also known that Dean Malenko and The Giant are in the arena. What all would go down here? Benoit and Scorpio started off by circling eachother...Benoit made the first strike by clotheslining Scorpio right out of his boots. This wasn't going to be a mat-wrestling match with Benoit involved. Benoit just laid the boots onto Scorpio and basically kicked his ass for several minutes. Scorpio tried to make a comeback after rolling out of the way of a flying headbutt, but Scorpio still couldn't keep the pressure up as Benoit regained the advantage shortly thereafter. Malenko did make an appearance in the later stages of the match, but just stood at the entrance way. Benoit didn't let it bother him as he continued the asskicking. Scorpio tried one more time as when Benoit went for a dragon suplex, Scorpio brought his elbow back right into Benoit's face. Benoit was hurt and Scorpio quickly followed it up with a Frankensteiner. Benoit was down and in perfect position...Scorpio climbed to the top turnbuckle and came sailing off with the 450! BENOIT MOVED! Scorpio hit hard and was hurt. Benoit saw his oppurtunity as he picked Scorpio up and dropped him with a tiger driver. 1... 2... 3!!! Chris Benoit pinned Too Cold Scorpio after a tiger driver in 0:11:14. Rating: *** 1/4 Benoit with the win, proving that he does deserve to be a World Title contender. Benoit then saw Malenko, but Malenko just walked to the back. Benoit got out of the ring and charged after him, but it didn't look as if he would catch him. We then cut to a backstage interview with Jyushin Lyger. "Since I got back into this locker room people have been asking me why I kept the title on Thompson? The answer is simple. Thompson, I offered you my help and in return you dropped me with your Double Arm DDT. I want revenge on your scrawny ass. Thompson, nobody makes a fool of me. I am going to be the person to take that title away from you. Everybody knows about my past wars with Owen Hart and The Nation. Owen, I know you have a great record against me, but that was simply because of The Gladiator. At Free For All things will be different. Thompson, Owen, I am getting my revenge on both of you in one night and in one match and taking the TV Title while I am at it." Confident words coming from Jyushin Lyger. --------------------------------------------------------------------- The Giant vs New Jack --------------------------------------------------------------------- The next match saw The Giant face off against New Jack. New Jack tried his best to keep The Giant down, and used his many objects to his advantage, but all it took was one mistake and The Giant caught him by the neck and planted him with the Choke Slam to get the pinfall. The Giant continues to dominate. The question is, can Benoit beat this giant? The Giant pinned New Jack with the Choke Slam in 0:19:14. Rating: -** 1/4 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Fit Finlay and Jyushin Lyger vs Owen Hart and The Gladiator --------------------------------------------------------------------- Fit Finlay and Jyushin Lyger went at it with Owen Hart and The Gladiator next. Finlay and Lyger surprisingly worked really well as a tag team and completely dominated The Gladiator and Owen Hart. It looked as if it would be a complete squash for Finlay and Lyger when Finlay hit Owen with the Tombstone, but out came Robert Thompson! Thompson ran out and pulled Finlay off of the unconcsious Owen Hart. Finlay was obviously pissed by this and nailed Thompson with a kick to the stomach and dropped him with a Tombstone as well!!! This gave Owen just enough time, however, to get his bearings back and when Finlay turned around he was rolled up with a small package... 1... 2... 3!!! Owen Hart and The Gladiator defeated Fit Finlay and Jyushin Lyger when O. Hart pinned Finlay after an inside cradle in 0:46:01. Rating: **** 1/4 A major comeback for Owen and The Gladiator. They were quick to get out of there as this gave Owen even more momentum going into the triangle match at Free For All. Lyger was pissed at Thompson and started to lay a beating to him. So did Finlay, but not before dropping the referee with a Tombstone. Eventually security and officials came out and split them up. Why Thompson saved Owen is beyond me. Tonight we have seen Lyger and Owen teaming up to help Thompson retain his TV Title. Later Thompson helped Owen get a pinfall on Finlay. It looks like the three opponents are keeping an eye out for eachother. Why is beyond me. |
