| ("War Machine" starts and we go through the opening video with the following clips: Spike Dudley hitting the Acid Drop on D-Lo Brown, Too Cold Scorpio nailing the 450 on Fit Finlay, Jeff Hardy blasting New Jack over the head with a guitar, The Extremists standing on opposite turnbuckles, Too Cool brawlin it out with the Dragon Kid and Juventud Guerrera, Ken Shamrock putting Frank Shamrock in the Ankle Lock Submission, Saturn dropping Chris Benoit with the Death Valley Driver, Mike Awesome executing the Awesome Bomb on The Giant, Benoit putting Saturn in the Crippler Crossface, Bigelow and Lee executing their finishers from the top rope through tables onto the Extremists, Robert Thompson dropping Jyushin Lyger with the Double Arm DDT, Perry Saturn driving Sid into the mat with a Death Valley Driver, Dean Malenko putting the Texas Cloverleaf on Benoit, and then Malenko holding the World Title over his head.) (We cut to Tully Blanchard. He is inside his office and is sitting behind his desk. He is looking straight into the camera.) TULLY BLANCHARD: Tonight is the night we find out who goes on to face Dean Malenko for the World Heavyweight Championship at Contact. I was planning on letting everybody know who won the voting contest right now at the beginning of the show, but instead things have changed. The votes had started to dwindle and we were ready to close them off when all of a sudden a burst of votes came through. Now more votes are spilling in. Things have started to get very close between all three men and so I have decided to hold off on announcing who will face Malenko for a half hour. In a half hour we will find out who will try and dethrone Malenko. Until then, good luck, guys! (We go straight to the arena where the crowd is going crazy. Signs all over the place for Chris Benoit, Mike Awesome, Jyushin Lyger, Dean Malenko (is an asshole), and several other people. As soon as the starting pop lowered the people started chanting. It took us awhile to figure out who they were chanting for as it sounded all mumbled, but we found out why. They were chanting three different things. 1/3 of them were chanting Awesome, the other third was chanting for Lyger, and 1/3 of them for Benoit. It is obvious to see that the fans are split between their favorites.) ("Song 2" by Blur) And even if they were all split, they were still going to cheer on this man. Chris Benoit was making his way down the aisle. Benoit got in the ring and grabbed the mic out of the ring announcer's hands. CHRIS BENOIT: Tonight we are going to find out who goes on to Contact, and all I know is that it better be me! I've heard the voting has been pretty close and I expect that. Especially with the three people that are involved. But everybody knows that I haven't done all this work just to get thrown over to the side for somebody else to steal all my glory. That just is not going to happen! I have tons of respect for Jyushin Lyger, and the same can be said about Mike Awesome, but that doesn't really mean anything right now. It is all about who goes onto Contact to face Dean Malenko. It better be me. That was all Benoit had to say. He dropped the mic in the ring and headed to the back as we went to some commercials. When we came back it was time for our opening contest. ----------------------------------------- Matt Hardy vs Steve Corino ----------------------------------------- Steve Corino started this one off fast, nailing Matt Hardy with a spinning leg lariat. Corino knew that he had to keep Matt from going hardcore on him to have a chance. Corino kept Matt down with several high-flying moves, sticking to the dropkick mostly. But he wasn't afraid to take a few chances as he nailed Matt with a flying elbow off the top only a few minutes in. Corino was looking really good while Matt was having troubles. After the elbow Corino went back to the top and came flying off with a legdrop that connected and Corino went for the cover. 1... 2... Kickout! Matt may not be looking very good, but he still has a lot left in him. Corino should of kept up with his high-flying, but instead he started going for a few punches, and Matt saw his oppurtunity. He ducked under one and nailed Corino with one of his own. Corino staggered back and Matt blasted him with a clothesline. Things weren't going to get any better for Corino. Matt went right to work on Corino sticking to brawling, and even nailed a superkick that knocked Corino almost out of it. Two count. Of course, nobody thought Matt wanted the pinfall there. Matt went to the outside and threw a couple of chairs into the ring. He re-entered the ring just as Corino was getting up. Matt nailed Corino with another clothesline that took Corino down. Matt pulled Corino's hands behind his back and then went into his tights and pulled out a pair of handcuffs!!! Matt cuffed Corino's hands behind his back and then let him go. He then walked over and grabbed one of the chairs. Corino got to his feet and tried to exit the ring, but before he was halfway through Matt caught him and dragged him back into the center of the ring and then CRASHED the chair over Corino's head. Corino just stood there for a second with, his face blank, and then went to fall flat on his face, but Matt caught him and dragged him over to the corner. He propped Corino up and tied cuffed hands and arms in the ropes so he couldn't fall, but his head was sticking up over the top turnbuckle. Matt brought the chair back and sent it back over Corino's head. The sound it made was disgusting. Corino apparently fell into unconcsiousness after that, but he was still being held up. Matt wound up again and sent the chair crashing into Corino's skull. And then...he did it again! Finally the ref had seen enough and got Corino free from the ropes with the help of a locksmith that had run down the aisle. Corino juts walked a few steps out of the corner and then fell flat on his bloody face. Matt picked Corino back up, though, as he wasn't done. He grabbed him in a facelock, turned, TWISTED FATE! Corino was out. A three count was academic. Matt Hardy pinned Steve Corino with the Twisted Fate in 0:08:55. Rating: ** Matt Hardy is one disgusting human being. After the match Matt started to stomp on the lifeless body of Corino. The ref tried to break it up, but Matt grabbed ahold of him by the shirt and hurled him over the top rope and to the floor. The locksmith also entered the ring, but received a lariat for his troubles. Matt went back to laying the boots to Corino. Steve Strong stepped out from the entrance curtain, apparently realized what he was doing, and turned back around and made his exit. Things looked very glum for Corino until Billy Kidman hauled ass down to the ring. Matt saw this and quickly left the ring just as Kidman entered. Matt slowly walked to the back while Kidman checked up on Corino. Several ring attendants had to come down with some mops and clean up the blood that Corino left. The ring was covered in it. Before our next match we goto some pre-taped segments with several wrestlers talking about who should get the title shot at Contact. (Begin) ROBERT THOMPSON: Does it really matter? Dean Malenko is going to wipe the floor with whoever he faces anyways. I wouldn't mind seeing Chris Benoit get his ass kicked by Malenko one more time. I do have one question though. What the hell is Jyushin Lyger doing with those other two men! That should be my slot! I beat Lyger if you all don't remember. Why the hell is he in the poll at all? (Cut) (Begin) ULTIMO DRAGON: I have not been here long, but from what I have seen, Mike Awesome is indestructable. He deserves the shot. (Cut) (Begin) KEN SHAMROCK: Fuck all of them. FRANK SHAMROCK: Now, that's not nice, Ken. I say give it to Lyger. Awesome and Benoit are just a couple of pricks. At least Lyger has done some things to earn the shot instead of just crying or sneak attacking people. (Cut) (Begin) MATT HARDY: I don't think you want my opinion. (Cut) (Begin) MUSTAFA SAED: He...he...hu...AHH!!!! HUFF!!! HUFF!!! NEW JACK: Well, you got three mother fuckers that I don't give a fuck about. Benoit has been wanting to fuck up Malenko for a long fucking time so maybe the shot should goto him. On the other fucking hand, Lyger isn't getting much credit as nobody thinks he can fucking do it. I think that is a fucking load of fuck. But I say give the fucking shot to Mike motherfucking Awesome. (Cut) (Begin) PERRY SATURN: Let's see, Benoit has gotten his ass kicked by Malenko. Lyger has gotten his ass kicked by Malenko. Awesome hasn't ever gotten in the ring with Malenko, but I have beaten Awesome and I know he doesn't have what it takes. Maybe none of them should get the shot. And Kronus, you better agree with me. JOHN KRONUS: Yeah, yeah, I agree. No shot for any of them! (Cut) We now go back to the ring where Ultimo Dragon and Scott Taylor are already waiting. -------------------------------------------- Ultimo Dragon vs Scott Taylor -------------------------------------------- The Ultimo Dragon has only been in the WWA for a little over two weeks now and this will be his first singles match. He is a legend in every place he has ever been, and now it is time for him to become a legend in the WWA. Scott Taylor has been improving by leaps and bounds. He came into the WWA in the middle of a feud with Brian Christopher, but has since joined up with Christopher and reformed Too Cool. They are now trying to work their way up the tag ladder and also towards a shot at the Lightweight Title. Here would be a perfect oppurtunity for Taylor. The Dragon and Taylor started things off extremely fast with a quick armdrag sequence. It then went into a few headlocks followed up by a few quick pinfall attempts that got neither man anywhere. Things slowed down from there with Ultimo picking up control with some submission type wrestling. Taylor did not know how to combat this and so was forced to just sit there while his arms and legs were being ripped from his body. Finally Ultimo made a mistake when he went for a figure-four as he bent over too far allowing Taylor to poke him in the eye and take the advantage. Taylor picked the speed of the match up quite a bit as he went flying with a couple of dropkicks and then a spinning heel kick that connected perfectly. Seconds later Taylor whipped the Dragon into the turnbuckles and as the Dragon staggered out Taylor nailed him with a faceslam. IT'S TIME FOR THE W-O-R-M!!!! W O R M ... AND THE DRAGON MOVES OUT OF THE WAY! Taylor hit the mat and apparently hurt his hand. Taylor got to his feet, but was clutching his hand to his chest. This allowed the Dragon to deliver some of his lethal kicks to Taylor with the end result being a sharp kick to the side of Taylor's head and Scott falling backwards. Dragon quickly hooked on the Dragon Sleeper from there and it was all she wrote. Ultimo Dragon made Scott Taylor submit to the Dragon Sleeper in 0:10:39. Rating: ** 1/2 After the match Juventud Guerrera and the Dragon Kid came out to celebrate with the Dragon while Christopher came out to check up on his fallen buddy. Once the Lightweight Champion and his two friends realized they had the one man advantage they decided to attack and finally get the upper hand in this battle. Down went both Christopher and Taylor as the Dragon Kid, the Ultimo Dragon, and Juvy Guerrera laid a vicious beating onto them. Just when it looked helpless for Too Cool the lights went out!!! ... When they came back on Christopher and Taylor were standing wihle the Kid, Ultimo, and Juvy were all laying on the mat, rolling around in pain. Christopher and Taylor quickly pushed them out of the ring and you know what that means. DANCE TIME!!! Luckily for us, we didn't get to see it as we went to a batch of commercials. When we came back Tully Blanchard was making his way down the aisle. This was going to be very interesting. Blanchard entered the ring and grabbed the mic from our ring announcer. TULLY BLANCHARD: Right now I would like to ask all three men to come down and enter the ring with me. And if any violence occurs while I am in the ring I will have whoever is responsible banned from wrestling in the WWA for one year! ("Right Now" by Van Halen) That is Jyushin Lyger's music and there he is. Lyger receives a huge pop as he walks down the aisle and claps hands. He slides into the ring and walks up to Blanchard. They have a few words before Lyger sticks his hand out and shakes Tully's. ("Song 2" by Blur) And we all know who this is. Chris Benoit in the flesh! He walks down the aisle and receives a bigger pop than Lyger if that is possible. Lyger's eyes never left Benoit as Benoit walked down the aisle. Benoit entered the ring, but didn't even get close to Blanchard. This wasn't a good time for him. He thinks he deserves the title shot without any voting process and he is probably right. ("Come With Me" by Puff Daddy) POP FROM THE HEAVENS!!! But not all of it was cheers. He is starting to receive a mixed reaction, especially after what he did to Lyger last week on Terror. Awesome walked down the aisle with a purpose. His eyes were on both Lyger and Benoit. Once Lyger saw Awesome he started to step forward, but Blanchard stuck his hand out to hault him. Awesome entered the ring and went to his own corner. TULLY BLANCHARD: Now, I know all three of you want to know who is getting the shot at Contact. The problem is, it isn't going to be that easy. You see, something happened that I never thought would of taken place. When I called for the 30 more minutes of voting to take place, well, they weren't ready for it and the system crashed. (The crowd sighs realizing how screwed up everything is now.) TULLY BLANCHARD: But I have come up with an idea. You see, there were two guys that were neck and neck in the voting. They were with-in votes of eachother. And I mean votes. Who knows who would of won had it not crashed? However, one guy was not even near the other two and so we will not bother with him. I have decided that there will be a match tonight between the two guys that were winning the poll. A one on one contest to determine who will go onto face Dean Malenko at Contact. And those men are: MIKE AWESOME.... (Chris Benoit looks over at Awesome quickly while Lyger turns to face Benoit.) AND... JYUSHIN "THUNDER" LYGER!!! WHOA!!! MAJOR SHOCKER!!! The crowd is literally stunned. Awesome looks happy while Lyger is looking over at Benoit. Benoit's facial expression never changed. Instead Benoit just stepped out of the ring and walked to the back. Fans were trying to start a "Benoit" chant, but it wasn't happening. Benoit walked out and to the back. Meanwhile, Awesome and Lyger turned to face one another. Lyger remembers what happened last week with his own crutches. How Awesome nearly paralyzed him. They exchanged a few words and then the pushing started. Just as they were about to start trading blows Tully Blanchard stepped in. TULLY BLANCHARD: Now, remember what I said. Whoever throws that first shot will be suspended for one year! I suggest both of you go to the back and prepare yourselves. This is a very important match for both of you. Awesome looked back at Lyger, looked him over, and gave a shrug of disgust as he left while Lyger turned towards the crowd and was met with a huge cheer. Lyger then also headed to the back. LYGER VS AWESOME! TONIGHT! (We cut to Dean Malenko in the back. He was sitting down on a couch with a coffee table in front of him. Saturn is sitting over in the corner, the masked henchman standing beside Saturn, and Robert Thompson sitting right beside Malenko.) ROBERT THOMPSON: So, what are you going to do? DEAN MALENKO: I have a plan. I always have a plan. (We go back to the arena just in time for "Natural Born Killaz" to play. Mike Quackenbush and D'Lo Brown, the #1 contenders for the tag titles, are already in the ring and the match was quickly underway.) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- D'Lo Brown & Mike Quackenbush vs The Gangstas ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The Gangstas are coming off a huge victory over the Eliminators. They are quickly becoming contenders for the tag titles, but to continue their sudden raise in the rankings they would have to make it past D'Lo and Quackenbush. D'Lo and Quackenbush are next in line for a tag title shot. They will be getting that shot at Contact against Brian Lee and Bam Bam Bigelow. With Eric Embry by their side we might be seeing the next tag team champions. This was supposed to be a classic tag match with one member of the team on the outside at all times, but that isn't how the Gangstas work so that rule was quickly thrown out the window. New Jack threw the trashcan of doom into the ring just as Mustafa was entering. Quackenbush went right after Mustafa and they brawled around in the corner. When New Jack entered the ring, he grabbed a cookie sheet out of the trashcan. D'Lo didn't seem to care as he charged at New Jack. New Jack was ready as he brought the cookie sheet up and sent it crashing onto D'Lo's head. D'Lo staggered back and New Jack nailed him with a clothesline to take him off his feet. Mustafa was easily getting the upper hand on Quackenbush. You don't brawl with Mustafa Saed. Mustafa whipped Quackenbush into the corner, but instead of following up he walked over to the trashcan and pulled out a dog collar. He walked over to Quackenbush and started raking the collar over Quackenbush's forehead! New Jack was beating on D'Lo, but D'Lo was somehow making it back to his feet. Once he was up New Jack went to charge in with another clothesline, but D'Lo ducked under and backdropped New Jack out of the ring. New Jack hit the concrete with a thud. Mustafa finally released the dog collar, and it was then we saw he had done some damage. Quackenbush's blood was pouring down his face. Mustafa seemed a little nervous by this as he started looking into the crowd and then back towards the entrance way. D'Lo went to the outside and threw New Jack up and over the guardrail. The crowd seperated giving D'Lo enough space to pick New Jack up and suplex him onto the floor. Mustafa finally went back to work as he started dropping some boots onto Mike's body. Mike caught one wild kick and brought Mustafa down in an ankle lock. Quackenbush was trying out some stuff he doesn't do very often. But as they say, desperate times call for desperate measures. D'Lo was dragging New Jack towards the back of the arena. Once there, D'Lo threw New Jack into the concrete wall. New Jack hit it full blast, and then staggered right back into a back suplex by D'Lo. New Jack was getting his ass beat down by D'Lo! Back in the ring Quackenbush continued to dominate over Mustafa by using some submission wrestling. This was stuff we have never seen out of Mike! A figure-four leglock was followed by a Boston Crab and then a Scorpion Deathlock. Mustafa kept finding ways out, but was then quickly put in another hold. Meanwhile D'Lo and New Jack kept exchanging the advantage in their brawl. Finally New Jack seemed to get the upper hand and kept it. He dropped D'Lo with a piledriver onto the concrete and it seemed to take D'Lo completely out of it. New Jack walked over and grabbed a merchandise table and pushed all the t-shirts off of it. He dragged it over to where D'Lo was, lifted D'Lo up, and set him up on the table. Mustafa was starting to fight back against Quackenbush's submission based offense with some brawling skills. The two men exchanged fists for quite awhile until we suddenyl went back to D'Lo and New Jack! New Jack somehow made it up to the balcony of the arena and it was a good 14 feet down to D'Lo! New Jack started playing air guitar while the crowd around him went crazy. SWAN DIVE! CONNECTS! D'Lo and New Jack went crashing through the table!!! The entire arena erupted into cheers while D'Lo and New Jack laid there on the concrete! Back in the ring Mustafa seemed to be going for a power bomb on Quackenbush, but before he could Bam Bam Bigelow and Brian Lee started running down the aisle. Mustafa caught them out of the corner of his eye as they were entering the ring. By that time he was too late, however. Mustafa dropped Quackenbush and charged at Lee only to eat a big boot to the face. Mustafa staggered back and Bigelow dropped him with a clothesline. Quackenbush made it to his feet only to be lifted high up by Lee and dropped with the Prime Time Slam. Bigelow started to really pound on Mustafa as Saed couldn't get to his feet. The ref was trying to tear him off with no luck. Mustafa eventually rolled to the outside and Bigelow relented. Bigelow instead went after Quackenbush and lifted him up onto his shoulder and dropped him with the Greetings From Asbury Park. Quackenbush was completely out of it! The tag champs decided to leave, having done their damage. New Jack was fighting his way through the crowd and fell over the guardrail and back into the ring area. He slowly made his way up onto the ring apron and then climbed to the top turnbuckle. He almost fell off the turnbuckle, obviously still woozy from the balcony dive, but corrected himself and then dove off with a headbutt that connected with Quackenbush's shoulder! New Jack draped an arm across Mike's chest. 1... 2... 3! The Gangstas defeated D'Lo Brown and Mike Quackenbush when New Jack pinned M. Quackenbush after a flying headbutt in 0:12:35. Rating: 1/4* The Gangstas with a huge win over the #1 contenders and now have shot themselves straight into contention with Bigelow and Lee. As for Bigelow and Lee, they are just plowing through their competition. Now the Extremists, D'Lo and Mike, and the Gangstas have felt their vengeance. When will it stop? Eric Embry entered the ring and checked up on Mike while New Jack got to his feet as did Mustafa on the outside. This was a massacre. ============================= So, three men are put in a poll... ============================= A poll to determine... ============================= Not only who deserves a title shot... ============================= But basically, who is more popular... ============================= Benoit should of won... ============================= But the fans know he can't win... ============================= So they choose two other men... ============================= Two men who can beat Malenko... ============================= Or at least who they think can... ============================= But the question isn't CAN they win... ============================= The question is... ============================= CAN Malenko lose? ============================= --------------------------------------------------- Robert Thompson(c) vs Billy Kidman TV Title on the line! --------------------------------------------------- Robert Thompson has been a great TV Champ so far. Defending the title against guys like Spike Dudley, Jyushin Lyger, Too Cold Scorpio, and anybody else that has stepped up. Tonight his opponent would be Billy Kidman. Billy Kidman hasn't been on too much of a roll lately, losing a triangle match for the Lightweight Title at Drawing of the Four. That was the same card that Jeff Hardy was turned on by his own brother, Matt Hardy. Kidman is Jeff's best friend and has never gotten along with Matt. Kidman has now taken to getting his brother's revenge on Matt. Thompson and Kidman started the match off with a hook-up and things escalated from there. Thompson pushed Kidman into the turnbuckle and started chopping away at Kidman's chest. Kidman fired back with a few punches that had Thompson staggering back. A lariat knocked Thompson down. An elbowdrop got a two count. Both men got to their feet, but Thompson took Kidman down with a Samoan Drop. Thompson went to drop a knee, but Kidman rolled out of the way. Kidman kept up his offense as he nailed Thompson with a dropkick as he was getting to his feet. Thompson got right back to his feet only to eat a superkick. Thompson fell back, but was near the ropes and so instead of falling back he used the ropes to hold him up. Maybe it wasn't such a smart idea as Kidman charged at Thompson and nailed him with a lariat that sent Thompson flying to the outside. Thompson landed on his feet, but wasn't upright for long as Kidman springboarded himself to the outside with a plancha that connected perfectly. It took both men awhile to get back to their feet, but once they did they started exchanging fists. Thompson got the upper hand here and punched Kidman back into the guardrail. Kidman tried to fight back with little success. Thompson whipped Kidman into the guardrail and tried to follow in with some sort of splash, but Kidman moved out of the way and Thompson crashed into the guardrail. Kidman took back the advantage and threw Thompson back into the ring. He climbed up to the top turnbuckle and perched himself there until Robert got back up which was when Kidman came flying off with a missile dropkick, but Thompson moved out of the way. Kidman hit the mat hard, but pushed himself right back to his feet. That might of been a mistake as he had no defense for a couple of kicks to the midsection which were followed up by a dragon suplex!!! 1... 2... No! Kickout! The move that Thompson has used several times recently to try and break Lyger's neck was not successfull in keeping Kidman down! Thompson got up and brought Kidman up with him. He booted him in the stomach. Perfect position. Thompson lifted Kidman up in a powerbomb, and it connects! But I thought you couldn't powerbomb Kidman? Apparently Thompson can. Thompson didn't even waste time with a cover as he grabbed ahold of another handful of hair and brought Kidman back to his feet. Thompson whipped Kidman into the ropes and went for a clothesline, but Kidman ducked under. Kidman came back on the rebound and went to the air as he wrapped his legs around Thompson's head and brought him down with a frankensteiner. Thompson was brought back to his feet and then whipped into the ropes. Kidman lifted him up and dropped him hard with a spinebuster slam. Kidman got back to his feet and appeared to be calling for the end. He climbed back up to the top turnbuckle....SHOOTING STAR PRESS!!! THOMPSON ROLLS OUT OF THE WAY!!! Kidman hits the mat with a crash! Thompson gets up, pulls Kidman to his feet, DOUBLE ARM DDT!!! 1... 2... 3!!! Robert Thompson pinned Billy Kidman with the Double Arm DDT in 0:10:23. Rating: ** 3/4 (Robert Thompson retained the WWA Television Title.) Robert Thompson walks away with another successful TV Title defense. How much longer can he continue to hold onto this title if he has to face guys like this? Robert Thompson grabbed his TV Title and walked away from the ring while Matt Hardy made an appearance. He stepped away from the entrance curtain just as Thompson was walking by. Thompson didn't give a nod or anything. He just walked on by. Matt didn't head towards the ring though. Instead he just cocked his head to the side and looked on as Kidman used the ropes to make it to his feet. Matt then brought his arms up in what appeared to be a Y. What in the hell is up with Matt Hardy? After a batch of commercials we cut to the back. (Too Cold Scorpio is preparing for his Intercontinental Title shot out in a hallway. Robert Thompson walks by with his TV Title around his shoulder.) ROBERT THOMPSON: Good luck tonight, you are going to need it. TOO COLD SCORPIO: Excuse me, I wasn't looking at you so don't talk to me...bitch! ROBERT THOMPSON: Yeah, you just keep that attitude. Saturn's going to knock your head off. TOO COLD SCORPIO: Better than him blowing my head off like you do to him. Thompson punches Scorpio after that remark which has Scorpio firing back. We soon have a fight on our hands. Scorpio seems to be getting the upper hand when an assortment of referees enter the scene and seperate the two men. One ref tells Scorpio to get his ass out to the ring. Scorpio's eyes never leave Thompson as he heads to the entrance way. ROBERT THOMPSON: I'll be seeing you again! -------------------------------------------------- Perry Saturn(c) vs Too Cold Scorpio Intercontinental Title on the line! -------------------------------------------------- Perry Saturn has been on a roll lately. With victories over Mike Awesome and Sid Vicious he is quickly moving up in the singles ranks. Not only that, btu he has apparently reformed the Eliminators with John Kronus. And he always has Dean Malenko and the masked henchman to back him up. Too Cold Scorpio, on the other hand, hasn't been doing so well. After his title loss to Dean Malenko several months back on PPV he has just drifted around the mid-card. His friendship with Chris Benoit and Jyushin Lyger has done more to help him than one would of thought and that is maybe why he is getting this title shot tonight. One bad thing for Scorpio is not only did he piss of Thompson just seconds ago, but he also has two angry Shamrock brothers after him after what happened last week on Terror where he ambushed them while Benoit kept them talking. These two didn't go right for a lock-up. Instead Saturn threw a punch Scorpio's way, but Scorpio blocked it and nailed Saturn with one of his own. Saturn seemed to be a little dazed as Scorpio bounced off the ropes and came off with a crossbody press that got him an early two count. With Saturn down Scorpio connected with a standing somersault legdrop. Scorpio bounced right back to his feet and nailed another somersault legdrop as the crowd cheered on. Scorpio once again didn't go for a cover as he got right back to his feet, STANDING MOONSAULT! 1... 2... NO! Kickout! Scorpio is going for the quick victory and almost has it! Scorpio got back to his feet, and seemed ready to end it as he twirled his finger in the air. Scorpio climbed up to the top and faced the crowd with a big smile on his face, MOONSAULT! Saturn gets his knees up! And Scorpio is rolling around in pain. Saturn stops him before he can roll to the outside and hooks a leg, two count. Now it was Saturn's turn to take control. He brought Scorpio up, bounced off the ropes, and hit his own crossbody press, but just like Scorpio's it got a two. Both men got right back to their feet as the next move would be important, but Saturn ducked under a wild punch thrown by Scorpio, grabbed ahold of him and brought him down with a takeover suplex. Advantage: Saturn. Scorpio got right back to his feet, but was a little woozy and walked right into a big, overhead belly to belly suplex. Scorpio was a little slower in getting to his feet this time. Saturn pushed Scorpio into the ropes and Irish Whipped him to the other side. However, Saturn put his head down way too early and got a kick in the face for his troubles. Scorpio took this time to showboat. He faced the crowd and started twirling that finger and talking it up to the crowd. This is something you don't do against Perry Saturn. When Scorpio turned back to face Saturn Perry was already up and almost took Scorpio's head off with a lariat. Perry bounced off the ropes just as Scorpio was getting to his feet and came flying off with a spinning leg lariat that connected. Scorpio didn't go down, but staggered backwards which allowed Saturn to nail him with another clothesline, this one taking Scorpio up and over the top rope and to the floor. Unfortunately for Scorpio he landed on his feet. Unfortunate because Saturn grabbed ahold of the top rope and springboarded himself to the outside with a plancha that sent both men down. Both men got back up at about the same time, but Saturn nailed Scorpio with several forearms and slid him back into the ring. Saturn followed. Perry grabbed ahold of Scorpio from behind, apparently trying a German Suplex, but Scorpio countered with several back elbows that caused Perry to break his grip. Scorpio booted Saturn in the stomach, powerbomb! 1... Kickout! At one? Perry must have a lot left in him. But Scorpio was ready to take it out. He lifted Perry up and set him on the top turnbuckle. He climbed up there as well, grabbed a front facelock, superplex! Scorpio got right up and climbed the other corner and came flying off with the Tumbleweed!!! HE HIT IT!!! Scorpio grabbed Saturn's head and brought Perry back to his feet, POWER BOMB! 1... 2... No! Kickout! But now Saturn isn't in as good of shape as he was. Scorpio was starting to look frustrated as he climbed to the top turnbuckle again. What high flying move of Scorpio's were we going to see next? The 450 Splash! SATURN ROLLED OUT OF THE WAY! Scorpio smacks the mat hard! Saturn wastes no time in springboarding himself onto the top turnbuckle, elbow from the heavens!!! IT CONNECTS! Saturn bounces right back to his feet, springboards himself back to the top turnbuckle, FROG SPLASH!!! 1... 2... NO! Kickout!!! Scorpio somehow kicked out! Saturn hopped to the outside and went under the ring...and brought out a table! He slid it into the ring. He set it up near the middle of the ring and set Scorpio on top. The crowd was getting excited at the thought of a table being broke. Saturn made it up to the top turnbuckle. He comes flying off! FLYING LEGDROP! SCORPIO ROLLS OUT OF THE WAY! SATURN GOES CRASHING THROUGH IT! Saturn is laying in the remnants of the table! Scorpio rolls over and drapes an arm across Saturn's chest! 1... 2... ... NO!!! KICKOUT! We were so close from seeing a new Intercontinental Champion!!! Scorpio gets to his feet bringing Saturn up with him. He hooks him from behind, GERMAN SUPLEX! 1... 2... KICKOUT! Scorpio hangs on and brings Saturn back up with him, ANOTHER GERMAN SUPLEX! 1... 2... Thr... KICKOUT!!! Saturn won't stay down! Scorpio has hung on again and makes it back to his feet, THE THIRD ROLLING GERMAN SUPLEX! 1... 2... 3!!! FINALLY SATURN STAYS DOWN!!! NEW CHAMPION!!! Too Cold Scorpio pinned Perry Saturn after a German Suplex in 0:12:21. Rating: ** 1/2 (Too Cold Scorpio won the WWA Intercontinental Title.) Too Cold Scorpio is the new Intercontinental Champion!!! Here comes Chris Benoit! He slides into the ring and lifts Scorpio's hand in the air! What a great day! Saturn rolls to the outside and here comes John Kronus to help him to the back. Benoit and Scorpio continue to celebrate as Scorpio is handed the title. And here comes Jyushin Lyger! He slides into the ring and shakes Scorpio's hand and gives him a big hug. Benoit sees this and immediately exits the ring and heads to the back. Lyger looks on as Benoit walks off as does Scorpio. Scorpio and Lyger exchange some words before Scorpio lifts the belt up over his head to a big pop. Still, something was taken away from this great moment. Benoit just can't stand that he won't be able to get his revenge on Malenko. We cut to the back once more. We are in Malenko's locker room. Robert Thompson is in the room, TV Title around his shoulder. So is the masked henchman. Enter Perry Saturn. He does not look to be happy. He enters the room and immediately punches a hole in the wall. DEAN MALENKO: Hey, cool it. PERRY SATURN: You cool it. I just lost my title in case you didn't notice. DEAN MALENKO: Yeah, I saw. But don't worry, you will get it back sooner or later. Right now it's time to put my plan in affect. ROBERT THOMPSON: So you are finally going to tell us the plan? DEAN MALENKO: You're damn right. Now neither Lyger or Awesome deserve a title shot. We all know that. So this is what we are going to do... All four men get in a huddle as we goto some commercials. We come back to "Right Now" by Van Halen playing. Jyushin Lyger shows his face and gets a huge face pop. The crowd rises to it's feet and cheers on the man that might be facing Dean Malenko at Contact. Lyger lets the cheers sink in for a second before heading to the ring. Jyushin Lyger doesn't get to enjoy things for long because as soon as he enters the ring "Come With Me" by Puff Daddy comes over the speakers. We all know who arrives at the sound of this music. Mike Awesome is ready. The cheers seemed to outweigh the boo's, but not by much. Was it going to be Jyushin Lyger challenging Dean Malenko for the title at Contact, or would Mike Awesome facing Malenko for the right to be called champion? We were about to find out. --------------------------------------------------- Jyushin Lyger vs Mike Awesome --------------------------------------------------- Jyushin Lyger. Mike Awesome. Does anything else need be said? Maybe. These two have met before. These two aren't friends. In the beginning stages of the WWA they fought. It was Winterfest where they fought. Jyushin Lyger won the match, but could hardly stand afterwards. Since then Awesome has grown tougher. He has grown to be this monster that we now see. Jyushin Lyger has grown himself, but into a major fan favorite and possibly a real, true hero. It was just last week that Lyger was almost destroyed by Mike Awesome with his own crutches. Is Lyger 100%? Remember, it has only been a little over a week that he had that devastating match with Robert Thompson and only a week ago that he was almost paralyzed by Awesome. They circled eachother for the first few seconds before trying a lock-up. Awesome obviously had the strength advantage and easily pushed Lyger down. Lyger looked up at Awesome from the mat and who knows what he was thinking. Lyger got right back to his feet, but as they went for another lockup Lyger ducked under and hooked Awesome around the waist, German Suplex perhaps? No, too early for that. He held him there for a second, but Awesome wasn't going to stay this way for long as he brought his elbows back, but Lyger ducked under them. This did cause Lyger to break the hold, but when Awesome turned around he was caught again, this time in a front waistlock. But Lyger didn't just hold him there. Instead he used all his power to bring him over with a Northern Lights Suplex with a bridge! 1... No! Way too early for that. Both men got back to their feet, and Awesome wasted no time. A punch was followed by another, then a kick, and another, and then finally a boot to the face that knocked Lyger off his feet. This was what Lyger had to try and dodge, but it wasn't working. Lyger got back to his feet, but was still woozy...another boot to the midsection by Awesome! Awesome grabs him, OH M GOD! AWESOME BOMB!!!! ALREADY!!! 1... 2... NO!!! NO!!! KICKOUT!!! Lyger got out! Lyger kicked out! How in the hell!?!? Awesome didn't seem to be shocked at all, he just grabbed himself a handful of hair and brought Lyger back to his feet. A whip to the turnbuckles followed, and Awesome followed in with a big splash. Lyger barely moved out of the way in time and Awesome rammed his chest into the turnbuckles. Lyger took advantage as he grabbed ahold of Awesome and whipped him into the opposite turnbuckle. Lyger charged in, KOPPO KICK!!! Awesome came staggering out of the corner, and looked to be ready to fall flat on his face, but Lyger caught a hold of him. Lyger grabs him, he lifts him up onto his shoulder, he starts running, RUNNING LYGER BOMB!!!! DEVASTATING!!! 1... 2... NO!!! KICKOUT!!! AWESOME KICKED OUT! AWESOME KICKED OUT! Lyger WAS frustrated. He didn't seem happy at all. He picked Awesome up by the hair, but Awesome pushed him back. And what are Dean Malenko, Perry Saturn and that masked man doing coming out right now? Why are they heading to the ring? Lyger nails Awesome with a punch and Awesome fires right back with one of his own. Lyger hits another punch. Awesome hits Lyger. We have an exchange of fists! Malenko grabs a chair and slides into the ring. Saturn grabs himself a chair and slides in as does the masked man. The ref doesn't know what to do. Lyger and Awesome are too busy fighting one another! Malenko swings the chair and it crashes over Lyger's head!!! Lyger goes down! The masked man swings his chair and connects with the back of Awesome, but Awesome doesn't fall down. He goes down to one knee. Saturn takes a swing and connects with his head and now Awesome falls to the mat. The ref is calling for the bell! Mike Awesome fought a no-contest with Jyushin Lyger in 0:06:20. Rating : ** Malenko pulls Lyger to his feet and hooks his arms. Saturn grabs his chair, winds up, and crashes it over Lyger's head! Lyger falls to the mat. Awesome is trying to get up, but the masked man keeps sending his chair down across his back. We cut to the back. Too Cold Scorpio is watching what is going on on a monitor. He gets up off his chair and starts running down a hallway, but as he passes a corner an arm sticks out of it and clotheslines Scorpio right out of his boots. Scorpio goes down and Thompson steps out! Robert Thompson! Thompson starts laying the boots to Scorpio, picks him up, and Double Arm DDT's him on the floor! We go back to the ring. Awesome is finally laying face down and not getting up. Lyger's mask has been torn and is bleeding all over the place. The mat is covered in it. Malenko is smirking. Malenko grabs ahold of Lyger and turns him over in the Texas Cloverleaf! This is just horrible. Can't anybody come out here and stop them? Awesome is being pulled to his feet by Saturn, Saturn lifts him up on his shoulders, DEATH VALLEY DRIVER!!! We cut to the back once more. Chris Benoit is watching on a monitor! A women's voice can be heard "What are you doing? Get out there and help your best friend!" Benoit looks torn for a second before getting up off his chair, and folding it up. He opens the door and heads out. Now back to the ring. Malenko still has Lyger in the Cloverleaf while the masked man has pushed Awesome into the corner and started to just pound the living hell out of him with his fists. ("Song 2" by Blur) CHRIS BENOIT! HE IS RUNNING DOWN THE AISLE WITH HIS CHAIR!!! Malenko sees him and releases his hold and slides out of the ring. Benoit slides in at about the same time. Saturn turns around and gets smacked in the face with the chair. The masked man stops beating on Awesome and charges Benoit only to get smashed in the face as well. Both Saturn and the masked man roll to the outside and join Malenko as they head to the back. Benoit just stood there, though, not helping anybody. Awesome used the ropes and turnbuckles to make it to his feet, but he was obviously very woozy. He staggered out of the corner...AND BENOIT NAILED HIM WITH THE CHAIR!!! Awesome falls backwards and crashes into the corner. Benoit throws the chair out in the crowd and exits the ring and heads to the back while Lyger crawls towards the ropes. (fade to black) (or so we thought) (We cut to Tully Blanchard's office. He looks irate. His desk has been turned over, papers are everywhere.) TULLY BLANCHARD: So you want to screw up my plans, Malenko? It isn't doing to work. Next week, we will be seeing a rematch, Jyushin Lyger versus Mike Awesome, but there won't be any interference this time. This time there will be a winner? How can I guarantee it? Four words: Hell In A Cell! (fade to black) |
