| Sort of a lackluster event tonight. The only thing of real importance was the main event. ------------------------------------------------------ D-Lo Brown vs Billy Kidman ------------------------------------------------------ D-Lo Brown and Billy Kidman went at it first. Before the match started Kidman got on the mic and told everybody that he would get some revenge on Benoit. Looks like Benoit has made more enemies than he can handle. D-Lo and Kidman really didn't have enough time to have a great match that we all know they could have. The reason being D-Lo throwing Kidman to the outside and then distracting the referee while Benoit nailed Kidman with a gruesome German Suplex onto the concrete. Benoit threw Kidman back into the ring and left. This gave D-Lo the perfect oppurtunity to climb the turnbuckles and fly off with the Low Down to score the pinfall. Kidman's revenge may not of come off so well. D-Lo Brown pinned Billy Kidman with the Low Down in 0:02:06. Rating: 1/4* ------------------------------------------------------ Brian Christopher vs Bob Holly ------------------------------------------------------ Brian Christopher made his WWA debut here tonight by defeating Bob Holly with ease. Christopher may be a future champion. Something I should note is that Scott Taylor was in the crowd watching him. Brian Christopher pinned Bob Holly with the Tennessee Jam in 0:06:24. Rating: 1/2* ------------------------------------------------------ The Untouchables vs The Gangstanators ------------------------------------------------------ The Gangstanators went up against The Untouchables in the next match. New Jack and Kronus ran out, after the Untouchables entrance, with their trashcan of weapons and the match was on. New Jack and Steve Strong immediately went to the outside and over the guardrail. They started brawling throughout the crowd while Kronus and Corino put on a great match in the ring. Back in the crowd New Jack used several different weapons on Strong and even put Strong through a table with a piledriver. Kronus meanwhile was dominating Corino in the ring with his high-flying manuevers. Kronus ended up picking Corino up and dropping him with a running powerslam. Kronus climped to the top...450 SPLASH!! 1... 2... NO!!! Corino kicked out at the last second!!! New Jack, meanwhile, left a bloody Steve Strong behind as he came back to the ring. Kronus dropped Corino with a superkick. New Jack grabbed a chair and climbed to the top...DIVING CHAIR!!! 1... 2... 3!!! BIG WIN FOR THE GANGSTANATORS! New Jack and Kronus celebrated in the ring by climbing up on opposite turnbuckles and letting the cheers sink in. It looks like we may have found our new #1 contenders. The Gangstanators defeated The Untouchables when New Jack pinned Corino with the Diving Chair in 0:14:29. Rating: * 1/4 ------------------------------------------------------ Darren Drozdov vs David Taylor ------------------------------------------------------ In the next match we saw Drozdov debut against David Taylor. Many people were surprised by Taylor's offense in which he completely dominated Droz. He kept Droz on the mat with assorted power moves and his submission style wrestling. Taylor eventually put Droz away with a bulldog. Taylor walked away from the ring laughing while Droz, groggily, got back up to his feet. Droz went over and grabbed a mic and asked how the hell that happened and demanded a rematch on Saturday Night Heat. David Taylor pinned Darren Drozdov after a bulldog in 0:17:14. Rating: * 3/4 Before we could start the next match Ace Darling and Devon Storm made their way down to the ring. They got on the mic and proclaimed that no matter what Cooper did he wouldn't be able to get the tag titles off of them. This brought Commissioner Cooper out who said that he would find a way and that at Free For All he is going to sign Ace Darling and Devon Storm vs The Gangstanators in a Falls Count Anywhere match. Ace Darling and Devon Storm weren't overly happy when they heard this and exited the ring chasing after Commissioner Cooper. ------------------------------------------------------ The Gladiator vs Robert Thompson WWA UNIVERSAL TITLE ON THE LINE ------------------------------------------------------ Our next match was something amazing. The Universal Champion and the TV Champion went at it with only the Universal Title on the line. Thompson had the advantage as he didn't have as tough a schedule as The Gladiator did last night. Thompson and The Gladiator put on one of the best matches I have seen in awhile, but Thompson kept the advantage throughout most of the match. The Gladiator did make a small comeback when he leveled Thompson with a short lariat out of nowhere. He ended up whipping Robert into the ropes, but put his head down a couple seconds too early and was caught in the Double Arm DDT. 1... 2... KICKOUT! The Gladiator kicked out of Robert Thompson's Double Arm DDT!!! The crowd was going apeshit as Robert was in disbelief. Robert quickly picked The Gladiator back up and went for it again, but The Gladiator picked him up and dropped him with a bodydrop. As soon as Robert got back up he was put back down on the mat with a boot to the face. Robert was obviously stunned by the sudden offense delivered by The Gladiator and when he was picked up and dropped with the Awesome Bomb I don't think he knew where he was. 3 seconds later and The Gladiator had defended his title for the first time. The Gladiator pinned Robert Thompson with the Awesome Bomb in 0:11:30. Rating: *** 1/2 (The Gladiator retained the WWA Universal Title.) ------------------------------------------------------ Jyushin Lyger vs Owen Hart #1 Contenders for the TV Title Match ------------------------------------------------------ Next up was going to be Owen Hart versus Jyushin Lyger to determine who was the #1 contender to Robert Thompson's TV Championship. Jyushin Lyger came down first and as luck would have it he ran right into The Gladiator. The Gladiator seemed to remember what happened last night and promptly hit him with a kick to the stomach and then picked him up and dropped him with an Awesome Bomb on the concrete! Lyger was out cold and The Gladiator left with that pissed off look in his eye. Owen Hart came out and quickly capitalized on the damage his stable mate had delivered. He threw Lyger into the ring and did several manuevers before hooking on the Sharpshooter. Lyger had no choice but to give up and Owen Hart is now the #1 contender. Number-One-Contenders-Match: Owen Hart made Jyushin Lyger submit to the Sharpshooter in 0:03:24. Rating: *** Robert Thompson came out right after the decision and dropped Owen with the Double Arm DDT and then spat on Lyger before leaving. I guess Robert was just trying to soften Owen up before his match with him whenever that may be. Plus we know that Lyger and Robert have had some problems in the past. ------------------------------------------------------ Luck of the Draw (G!L!W!) ------------------------------------------------------ The next match a Luck of the Draw battle which pitted Steve Strong against Pablo Marquez. Steve Strong with a easy win, but Pablo showed some impressive offense. I wonder if we will ever get a GOOD Luck of the Draw match? Steve Strong pinned Pablo Marquez with the Elbowdrop from the 2nd rope in 0:19:11. Rating: * 1/4 Before the next match could get underway it was announced that due to Lyger being screwed out of a match here tonight that he would co-hold the #1 contendership to the TV Title. I wonder who will get the match now? ------------------------------------------------------ Chris Benoit vs The Giant vs Frank Shamrock ------------------------------------------------------ We were getting ready to have our main event when Dean Malenko came down and took the mic from the ring announcer's hand. He had some words to say and everybody listened. "Chris Benoit, you little bastard! You and I have been best friends for 8 years and this is how you repay me? We have been through Japan, ECW, WCW, and indy promotions all around the world and now you just stab me in the back? I don't think so! Truthfully I have no clue as to what you are up too. You attack The Giant when you were suppose to be tag team partners and then you help me defend my title later on in the night. So what's the deal, Chris?" With this out came Chris Benoit who had a mic of his own. "Dean, you and I have been like brothers. We both know eachother inside and out, or at least I thought we did. That is until The Giant came into the picture. He has screwed up our friendship and you and I both know it. It's pretty simple, either The Giant goes or I go." Before Dean could give a response Frank Shamrock ran out from the crowd and ambushed both Malenko and The Giant and the match was on. Chris Benoit quickly ran down to the ring while Malenko scampered away. Benoit, Shamrock, and The Giant put on one hell of a matchup. The Giant seemed to be just a little bit too slow for most of the match and it brought down the quality a bit. However, we saw who Malenko's allegiance was with by the end of the match when Benoit came off the ropes and Malenko blasted him in the back of the head with a chair. Benoit staggered forward and Shamrock took him down with a legsweep. A quick cover and Benoit was out of it. The Giant and Dean Malenko then left while Shamrock just looked down upon Benoit. He finally delivered one last kick to Benoit and left. Triangle Match: Frank Shamrock defeated The Giant and Chris Benoit when Frank Shamrock pinned Chris Benoit after a legsweep in 0:39:30. |
