I'm not exactly sure what to think about this one.  It was supposed to be a black comedy, but it wasn't funny.  And it wasn't particularly dark, either.  So I'm not sure exactly what it was.  I guess I just couldn't get involved in the whole "professional hit man decides to head back to his high school reunion, meets up with his former girlfriend, reforms his life, and finally has to kill a bunch of people in good faith" premise.  Hm.  Now that I describe it this way, I see that it's absolutely absurd.  Which I guess would be OK, as long as it's funny.  But it wasn't.  (To be fair, I am sure that they intended to lampoon the incredible number of hit-man films that poured out of Hollywood after Coppola finished up The Godfather.  Still, humor is an essential part of that, and the film misfired on that point.)  John Cusack was good, even excellent, but everyone else was a complete throw-away character.  And there was nothing particularly memorable about the directing, or the filming, or...anything.  In fact, I have nothing more to say, really.  All in all, this was a very odd viewing experience, and pretty uninspiring.  (Oh.  I remember now.  There was one funny scene.  And it was very funny.  Wish there had been more.)
