I have use two different bikes to give the before and after effect.
You will need a 2-inch metal cutting hole saw, electric drill, pliers, and a file with a rounded edge. In the end of the muffler there is a 1 inch pipe coming out the center. That is the baffle. The black metal wall that it is coming through is the only thing holding it solid in the muffler. Drill that wall with the hole saw. It is not very thick. After you cut through that wall. Grab the baffle with the pliers and pull. You might have to twist and shake a little but it will come out easily. It might have some fiberglass packing in it but it will blow all of that out the first time you crank the engine. File the small sharp edge of the wall. Dont hit the chrome with the file. There is another wall with holes in about half way up in the muffler. That is enough to keep it form being too loud. (You can also drill larger holes in that with a long bit or remove it completely with a chisel and hammer. That will make it just a little louder.) Its now time to hear how she sounds. If you have some, a little black high temp paint (barbeque grill paint) will dress the inside up nicely. But thats not really necessary. It will turn black in time. Oh heah, dont hold me responsible if you do this and do not like it. But I think you will. You might also want to make sure you will be able to get an inspection sticker with the pipes like this in you location.
Assuming you have to have them there. Here they dont watch that very close on bikes. They have a lot of bikes here much louder that mine. I have attached some pictures on this email and will send the rest on another. Good luck with it.
