To all who are concerned,
I'd like to assure all of you that I did not personally write that article in Teen magazine. Julie, the lady who interviewed me and wrote the article, was also very disturbed that Teen Magazine turned the story around. Originally, Teen wanted a story about a girl who lost their boyfriend to suicide. When Julie asked me if she could do the story on me, I told her that Joe was never my boyfriend, just a good friend. She then went to Teen and asked them if they wanted to cancel the story because Joe wasn't my boyfriend and that's what they really wanted. Teen told her no, they could work around it. So, she proceeded with interviewing me, asking me about everything that happened and how I felt. She was supposed to write the article as if I was writing it, and once I read the published article in Teen, I called her immediately. She had not even picked up the magazine yet, but was also upset that the magazine turned things around like that. Not once did I consider Joe my boyfriend, however he was the first guy I ever loved, and he knew that. I guess I am hoping you believe me by the fact that I knew everyone would be reading it, so why would I say that Joe was my boyfriend? I'd just be asking for what's happening now: everyone being very angry with me, and that is the last thing I could ever want. Joe was the most incredible friend I ever had, and the last thing I would do is lie about him being my boyfriend. I told Julie in the interview how Joe and Sam killed themselves together in Joe's car. I'm sorry all of this had to happen. I wish just as much as you do that the article didn't read as it does. I can't sit here and tell you you have to believe me, that's your choice, but I'm hoping from the above information that you will believe me. I will be contacting Teen Magazine once I get a number from Julie. Because the May issue was Teen's last issue, I will be asking them to put something in Seventeen Magazine, which Teen Magazine is trying to get their subscribers to switch to. If they refuse, I will be threatening to sue them. I have asked Julie to send me the transcript of the interview, and when I receive it I will put it up on this website. Again, I'm sorry, and I will keep you all updated.
Sincerely,
Jen
On March 26th, Joe Peterson took his life. His pain, he says was too great, his happiness too little. So he unfortunately thought what he did was the best thing to do.
Joe has provided all of us with so many memories and
we will miss him very much. Below, I have provided some pictures which
I have, however, I would absolutely love any pictures those of you have to
add on to this page.
