Metallica has been one of the strongest bands since their start in 1982. Not only have they stayed together, through thick and thin, they are constantly growing as musicians. As teenagers, they only listened to heavy metal and thrash metal. Currently, they are listening to a wide variety of music, which is apparent on their later albums.

Some say that Metallica is the greatest band ever to form. Some say that Metallica has sold out. Either way, you have to respect the band. When they first started as musicians, the music scene was dominated by British bands. They started the American music scene which is still around today. Did they sell out? No, they only matured. How long can you write songs about getting drunk and breaking things? They are just a well rounded band.

In their whole career, Metallica has released nine studio albums. This does not include their box set of live material, or any other import albums that most collects have. They wrote the song I Dissappear for the movie Mission Impossible 2. That was the first song that they wrote sinse 1996, which was when Load was released. However, they are still in the studio, and should have a great album out by Christmas 2001.

Very few bands have done what Metallica has done in their career. Metallica was the first band for drummer Lars Ulrich, and the first successful band for guitarist and vocalist James Hetfield. Lead guitarist Kirk Hammet did have another band, but quickly left it when the opportunity to join Metallica arose. The three current members have been together for eighteen years. Their music is only getting stronger as the years pass. There aren't many bands that can get the same musical feel that Metallica can.

Everyone has enjoyed twenty years of great music, and hopefully we will have another twenty years of equally good music. Thank you Metallica.
