J.K.Rowling and the Fans
J.K. Rowling has created one of the most successful book series in a long time. The Harry Potter books. And movies. And collectibles, and notebooks, etc. etc.

Mrs Rowling is the richest woman in Great Britain. Shes richer than the Queen.

And she has kind of a strange relationship with her fans.

I went to
www.jkrowling.com some time ago, just because I was curious (and thought maybe the page could confirm the title of Book 6), and I stumbled across an entry in Daily News that really put a broad grin on my face.

I cite:

Mugglenet Chatroom Uninterested in JKRs Theories

Well... who cares? The internet enables anyone to pose as anybody, so why should anybody believe that youre really JKR?

But this is my favourite:

Although I was concerned to find that many of the moderators feel their spiritual home is Slytherin, this is a great site.

Excuse me. There may be 4 houses, but which ones get portrayed all the time? Gryffindor and Slytherin. And as many, many HP fans are female, Professor McGonagall isnt exactly a sex symbol. Professor Snape, on the other hand, is. So are Draco and Lucius Malfoy, especially after the movies. And the bad guys always are sexier and more interesting than the nice guys.

Snape is sexy. Hes dangerous and hes a big secret. Draco is a cutie, and hes rich. And Lucius (I almost wrote Lucious...) is just hot. You just picked the wrong actors, honey.

Harry isnt. Neither is Ron, or Fred and George. And Percy certainly isnt. And which other guys are there to swoon about? None.

And green and black are just way better than red and gold.

And my second-biggest peeve:

I would like to take this opportunity to say that the practice of calling Lord Voldemort Voldie must stop, as must the insistence that with a bit of therapy Voldie would be a real sweetheart.

We call Voldemort Voldie for fun. Doesnt mean were not taking him seriously. We take him very seriously. We also call Severus Sevvie. So what?

Personally, I think that hed stay a filthy evil bastard after a brainwashing session, but thats just me. Im not big on the redemptionista movement. But what the heck. As long as cutie Voldie stays out of MY fics, I have nothing to bitch about.
