My Movie Top 20 10. Run Lola Run - As a German, I had to watch this movie in school again and again and yet again. And still - I like it. It doesn't seem to be a movie, it's mostly very realistic (apart from the almost empty Berlin - you'll never ever see that) and the emotions are very believable. I recently bought this movie on DVD and watched it with my boyfriend, and it's good still. Nuff said. 9. Witch Hunt - This movie takes a look at the Salem Witches from back then. Winona Rhyder as the jealous girl who starts it all and who's the only one getting nothing from it is very convincing, as always in her early movies. The play the movie's based upon, "The Crucible", was written during the McCarthy era, and its pretty plain that this is the way people behaved back then. But it shows that the times may change, but people don't. 8. Trainspotting - Drugs. Sex. And more drugs. Ewan McGregor before he was famous and a British movie. Lots of good things. And - this movie so tells you to keep your fingers of drugs. 7. Blair Witch 2 - You might remember "Blair Witch Project", not so big on the story part but nonetheless scary. I liked "Blair Witch 2" even more, because it shows many different points of view and not just the camera. And its even more realistic. Too bad we'll never know what caused their hallucinations. 6. The Craft - Four young girls in L.A. who think they're a coven and who all get their power of the one real witch in their circle. This movie so tells you not to use love spells. You get everything back 3 times as bad, and that's so true. 5. Galaxy Quest - This one had me roaring. Perfect Star Trek parody, which makes it even better for me as a Trekkie. ;) Tim Allen as the Kirk impersonator and Alan Rickman as the Spock prototype - hilarious. 4. The Crow - Dark and gloomy. I like. Too bad the following parts sucked ass. RIP, Brandon Lee. 3. X-Men - Any other Logan fans? I think he's the most convincing character, also because they didn't change so much about him. Rogue's a completely different person than in the comic, but if they hadn't turned her into a kid, there might've been some L/R action going on, and we don't want that, do we? ;) 2. Labyrinth - Lovely, lovely fairy tale. Or is it fae tale? Whatever. I love David Bowie, and I worpship Jareth, but I'm not so big on the Sarah/Jennifer Connelly front. Especially because she so lacked acting ability back then... 1. Dogma - Alan Rickman as the Voice of God. Alanis Morissette is God, and Jesus was black. Nuff said.
My Movie Flop 10 10. The Silence of the Lambs - I know that tons of people will want to massacre me for putting this movie on this list, but personally I didn't like it. I found it boring and not very interesting, aside from the Lecter scenes. Lecter is my big hero, weird as it sounds, but I admire him (not just Anthony Hopkins) and I love to see him. But this movie blows. 9. Meet Joe Black - This movie is so incredibly boring! Not even Anthony Hopkins could save it for me. Of course, Death discovering such things as peanut butter and stuff is fun to watch, but still, it's a boring old love story... 8. Rasputin - I know I should like this movie because it's about a time I like and with an actor I adore, but it just doesn't work. Boring, lame and unimportant. 7. The Queen of the Damned - I'm a major "Interview with the Vampire" fan, and I was actually looking forward to this movie, but Stuart Townsend just isn't Lestat, they turned a million things around (like, who made Lestat and stuff) and - sorry to say this - Aaliyah's acting sucks. This movie might've been good if the script writer had actually read the book... 6. Buffy The Vampire Slayer - I know that this movie isn't meant to be looked at seriously, but as a hyper fan of the TV series, I just can't help it. The TV series often takes itself far more seriously than necessary, and this bunch of total freakiness is nothing that could have led the course. It has its funny parts, but most of the time I find myself wondering "What's that thing in her hand supposed to be?" That's not a stake, it's a fence pole, for God's sake! 5. Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves - Horrible, horrible, horrible. I despise Kevin Costner for making this movie and for taking part in it. Leave him out of it, and this movie just might be good. 4. Jurrasic Park III - Total lack of story. Ends way too abruptly. there could've been more to it, like, things we haven't seen before? 3. Star Trek X - Nemesis - Boring. Unimaginative. Data dies. Nuff said. 2. Star Wars Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace - Special effects like there's no tomorrow, but personally I find this movie lacking in story, depth and acting abilities. I love Liam Neeson, and I love Ewan McGregor, but as Jedi Knights, they suck. 1. Star Wars Episode 2 - Without a doubt the worst movie ever made. Anakin's talking so much bullshit that he ruined the whole movie for me. It might have been a nice movie had they left the whole romance thingy out, but like this, it just majorly sucks.

Movies I have seen recently: Mousehunt - So cute. The mouse is the sweetest little thing I have ever seen, and those two are so hilarious. The end was so cute. *cutecutecute* ;) Swordfish - The first scene + explosion was one of the best I've ever seen. John Travolta at his best and Hugh Jackman dressed up and sexy... *rrrrrr* Panic Room - Fascinating. Tells you a lot about american hysteria and paranoia... Gangs of New York - Many people I've talked to didn't like it and found it boring but, for a movie with Leo diCaprio in the leading role, it's really good. And, with the history... The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - My b/f didn't like it too much, but well. I've seen better, but also worse. Besides, it has Sean Connery in it. That even makes up for Stuart Townsend. Master & Commander (12/7/03) - I loved it. As I'm big on the history movie front, this was just the bit for me. And - Russell Crowe looks awfully good again. He just looks better dirty, sweaty and wild. I hated him in L.A. Confidential... he was just so slick and... yuck. Luther (12/14/03) - Big advertising movie for the Lutherans. Joseph Fiennes didn't look one bit like Luther and so on and on. But Sir Peter Ustinov was just as brilliant as usual. He's getting old, admitted, but that makes him so sweet. When Luther brings him the translated Bible, he's all jumpy and gimme-gimme. Too cute. ;) The Lord of the Rings - Return of the King (12/20/03) - I'm not a big LotRs fan, not at all. But this movie was really good. The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers sucked, but this is okay. No walking around New Zealand for hours on end, but action! Yay! And I love Pippin. He's so cute. Finding Nemo (12/30/03) - Cute. That's the only way to describe it. I used to be a major Disney fan, but that wore off eventually, except for the occasional Aristocats or something like it. But I really enjoyed this - like almost all Pixar movies. Toy Story was clumsy, but back then, it was huge. And now, Nemo is huge. I didn't like Nemo himself, but the "supporting cast", if you will, was hilarious. The vegetarian sharks were just so cool, especially with their dub voices, two very well-known guys, kind of like Ali G., but funnier. And I loved that pelican (what's his name?). And everyone went "Oh my God" at Darla... *gg* Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (06/28/04) - Darkest movie yet. Very nice. No Lucius though. But Draco's growing up. With the hair not slicked back, he's almost hot. ; ) Not yet reaching the hotness that is his dad though. They took alot of things out, but I think it was okay. My husband got it all. Too bad they didn't explain who Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs were, and how Lupin knew how to clear the Marauder's Map. But I really liked Sirius. Of course, all of the teachers et al (meaning James, Lily, Snape, Remus and Sirius) are too old by far. They're supposed to have been in one year, and I think Alan Rickman is about 10 years older than David Thewlis (Lupin). But wth. I really loved the naked Afghan dog that was Remus though. : ) Shrek 2 - Funny. Not as good as the first one, but good enough. There were some terrific scenes in it, but overall it couldn't keep its momentum. Too bad. White Oleander (07/10/04) - Strange. I liked the story, but the way it was told took some getting used to. Astrid (I forgot the actress's name) was really good, and I enjoyed watching her. Michelle Pfeiffer was also very good. I really felt for her. Ring - Having seen "Feardotcom" when it came out, "Ring" really didn't come as much of a surprise - or so I thought. The end caught me completely off-guard, even though - the original movie being Japanese - I should have expected something of the sort. This way I was shocked out of my pants, believe me. The story is awesome, the flashbacks very well done, and the characters aren't half as flat as they were in "Feardotcom". Seldom seen something like this. The Funeral (08/29/04) - Older movie with Christopher Walken. Veeery strange. It tells the tale of a Mafia family in the 1940's, but it switches between a one-night-funeral scene (everything that happens in one evening) and the events that led to the death of the youngest of three brothers. Takes some getting used to, but it's something rarely seen today. And, Christopher Walken as crazy violent guy is always a good thing. Next on my list: Love, Actually; The Texas Chainsaw Massacre; Catwoman
