| 11/10/2002 - ER diagnosis is a ruptured Achilles tendon. Also scraped up my knee and arm pretty good, but fortunately did not use my face to break the fall. 11/11 - Met with Dr. Satterwhite - surgery scheduled for Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. Using staples and stitches to put everything back together. Wanted to ask details, but began feeling very queasy. 11/12 - Pre-op appointment - learned that my ballet career is likely over. 11/13 - Surgery went well. I think. I can't see underneath the splint. Am becoming a big fan of pain pills. 11/19 - Post-op visit - rewrap ankle. Doctor said I won't be driving for 4 weeks. Forgot the camera - but will try to remember it next week when the staples and stitches come out. 11/21 - I've dreamed of the day where I'm told not to do anything but sit around with my feet propped up. Be careful what you wish for - you might just get it! 11/26 - Talked to the nurse at work. Apparently I was supposed to call her 2 weeks ago. Whoops. Still don't know when I can go back to work. It sounds like I can probably start working from home if I want. 11/27 - Post post-op visit. Remove staples and stiches, put on first cast. It stays on until after Christmas. I should be able to return to work next week, but might need to work from home. 12/6 - Back to work this week, but only part time. Working from home, which is good, as its tough to use crutches when you are us un-coordinated as me. 12/27 - remove cast, replace with a boot. |

Suzanne has taken good care of me since I got hurt. I don't know what I'd do without her. She's kept everything I need within hopping distance, and taken care of all kinds of things that I wouldn't have thought of. I also want to thank Darlene for bringing me all kinds of food, Andy for bringing toys, and my brother for learning how to cook. And thanks to everyone else for the cards and emails. |
