DIRECTIONS TO GATLINBURG, TENN (COURTESY OF MOM) to get to gatlinburg, you go through evansville, stop at home to see your mom, then continue on south. OR you could take I-65 south (thru Indy, Louisville) to Nashville. (alternate thru evansville is south on pennyrile , thru Madisonville to Hopkinsville. where it turns into Hwy 41 South, to I-24 East. Whether you come into Nashville on I-24, or I-65, you take the 155 bypass in Nashville ( the signs will also say "to Opryland"). You come out on I-40 East, on the east side of Nashville. You miss all the downtown traffic that way. You stay on I-40 East Until just a few mile west of Knoxville. About 25 miles west of Knoxville, I-75 merges with I-40, but you stay on I-40. About 12 miles west of Knoxville, you'll see the I-140 bypass heading south to Smokey Mountain National Park. Stay on the I-140 bypass, only about 12 miles and this intersects at Hwy 129 South. Stay on 129 South towards Maryville. You'll "Y' off in Maryville to Hwy 321, but I think it's misleading; it says 321 North,(as i recall) when the highway is actually heading south. Just follow the signs to Townsend and The National Park, and it'll keep you in the right direction. When you go through Townsend, you're coming in the back way, thru the national park, into Gatlinburg. If you recall, the stoplights are numbered on the main street thru Gatlinburg. Your rental company will send directions about where they are located in relation to those stoplight numbers (#10). Just realize, most of them assume you're coming in thru Pigeon Forge (stay away from there) Usually terrible traffic tie-ups. Though it really shouldn't be bad that time of year. ------------------------------ our stoplight is #10 go up Ski Mtn Road and Ski Mountain Chalets is located on the right 3 blocks up their phone # is 865-436-7846 reservation under Engler
