Yeah, this came and went. Donald scheduled it for the weekend after the Winter Bash, as Zac and I were off that week for Spring Break. We had Right Hand Man from Eldorado, Illinois, and Kirby and the Titans from Mt. Vernon, Illinois, come out and play. We performed as "Independent Rock Company", with Donald and I doing an acoustic set first, followed by an electric set with Zac Combs on drums, Donald on guitar and vocals, and myself on vocals and bass. Everyone left around the start of our acoustic set. Either because they were all little kids who needed to be home for beddy-bye time, or because I scared them away with a Bob Dylan song...lol...
Let's see...the acoustic set just bombed..we spent all week practicing the electric set and only went through these a time or two...it looked something like this:
Foo Fighters' "Times Like These"
The "Quizno's Subs Commercial" (a medley of the two)
"Happy Birthday Erin [Prince]"
Outkast's "Hey Ya"
Weezer's "Island In The Sun"
Michelle Branch's "Goodbye To You" (much better than at the Winter Bash)
Adam Sandler's "Grow Old With You" (from 'The Wedding Singer'...Donald did this one alone.)
The Beatles' "Why Don't We Do It In The Road?" (from 'The White Album'...I did this one alone...I hadn't played it in like 2 months and had forgotten the chords..oh well.)
Bob Dylan's "Tangled Up In Blue" (I did this one alone too.)
Live's "Lightning Crashes"
The Pretty Things' "Over The Moon"
Coldplay's "Green Eyes" (abridged...lol..)
Nickleback's "Someday" (again...abridged..)
and J. Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers' "Last Kiss" (better known by my generation as being by Pearl Jam...an abridged hat trick...)
Then the electric set. It was supposed to be 2 songs with Conan Gibbs on drums, then the ten with Zac...but Zac wanted to go first for a song, then have Conan come up, so...
Foo Fighters' "Everlong" (with Zac)
"The Pi Song" (with Conan. We performed this in celebration of "Pi Day" (3/14)being the next day. It was written the weekend of Pi Day last year, with Conan. The lyrics are the digits of Pi, only I don't know them past 3.1415926535, so I just make 'em up after that...)
The White Stripes' "7 Nation Army" (with Conan. See, Zac didn't wanna do these 2 songs, so that's why we asked Conan to do 'em. He had never played "7 Nation Army" before. I played guitar on this'en.)
Jet's "Are You Gonna Be My Girl"(with Zac, as are the rest.)
Weezer's "Hash Pipe"
The Offspring's "Gone Away" and "Genocide"
Foo Fighter's "My Hero"
The Darkness's's' "I Believe In A Thing Called Love"
Bush's "Comedown" (Donald did lead vocal on this'en.)
Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" (by this point there was like literally no one there, save family and staff. It was past ten and so all the kids had to be home before they turned into pumpkins. Donald played ? and The Mysterians' "96 Tears" as opposed to the traditional "do-do" on some parts...I sang dead-pan/monotone and made up lyrics on some parts....Zac stopped playing towards the end, and started taking down his drum kit...)
our very own "You'll Never Say" (without drums...i quit playing bass somewhere in the first verse...I sang some more after that...Donald kept playing as if nothing was happening...the lights were on throughout the song...Joseph:"There's one more song...", Zac:"oh. What is it?", Joseph:"You'll Never Say", Zac:"Oh. I guess I won't.")
