This is my house in Grand Isle (Lille), Maine, as seen from Route 1. I began to live there full-time on Oct. 29, 2004. I also bought 0.39 acres of land next to me in late 2004.

Vital statistics: 5 feet, 6 inches tall. Brown eyes. Dark brown hair. Lives in Grand Isle (Lille), Maine. Formerly of West Haven, Connecticut. About 155 pounds in the morning, but nearly all is in the stomach and is easy to lose. Intellectual sense of humor. I bought a one-bedroom cottage on 3/4 of an acre of land in northern Maine across the river from Francophone New Brunswick in mid-April 2003. I moved to Lille, Maine, full-time in 2004. I have worked as a call center worker in Maine  since Nov. 23, 2004.

I was born in October 1972 in Milford, Connecticut, U.S.A., My late father originally was from Amesbury, Massachusetts, U.S.A., and my mother is from Saint-James, Normandy, France. Two of my father's grandparents were from Quebec province (one was an Iroquoise from Trois-Rivieres). After War War II my mother's family migrated to the area around Rennes in eastern Brittany in France. My father's relatives are scattered all over New England.

I went to public school at Kay Avenue in Milford until I moved to West Haven in 1982. I then went to public schools in West Haven (Seth Haley Elementary School and Bailey Middle School) until my graduation in 1990 from West Haven High School (WHHS). After that, I went to the University of New Haven (UNH) from 1990 to 1994 and earned a B.A. in history. I subsequently went to Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) from late 1994 to early 1998. I got an M.A. in history there.

From 1997 to 1999, I worked from time to time as a substitute teacher in several local towns. I then worked as an editorial office coordinator at a newspaper from 1999 to 2004. I typed press releases, obituaries and birth announcements. I also wrote an occasional bylined article.

My favorite hobby is visiting French-speaking countries. I visited Paris, Fontainebleau, Mamers, Chateaugiron, Epron  and Vincennes in France in August 2001. In November 2000, Paris, St. Denis and Versailles. In 1987, Paris, Chateaugiron, St. James, Le Mont St. Michel, Avranches, Bayeux, Arromanches and Caen. And in 1982 and 1976, Paris, Chateaugiron and Epron. I also visited Quebec province in April 2001 and saw Quebec City and Montreal. September 2001, Trois-Rivieres. April 2002, Quebec City. July 2002, Sherbrooke and Drummondville. September 2002, Sherbrooke, Magog, Coaticook and Compton. October 2002, Quebec City. November 2002, Montreal, Sorel and Kahnewake. I visited New Brunswick many times from 2003 to present and Cornwall, Ontario, several times in 2005.

I also enjoy reading histories, biographies and autobiographies -- especially in French. My favorite music is Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert, Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, Celine Dion, Charles Trenet, Edith Piaf, Maurice Chevalier and Georges Brassens.

In late November 2007, I decided it would be a sin to waste five years of Connecticut newspaper experience, just because I could not get a job at a newspaper in Maine. I therefore opened up an online newsletter about Grand Isle, Maine, titled "Le Journal du Maudit Gratteux."
