Although not used by Texas troops, the flag of the Holcombe Legion had Texas roots. The unit was funded and named after the First Lady of South Carolina, a Texan, Lucy Holcombe, who became world famous as the "Queen of the Confederacy". The legion flag was typical South Carolina except for the prominent Lone Star, a tribute to their Texas lady and patron. |
