| Holy Mary, Mother of God, how can anyone belittle the exalted place of the Blessed Virgin? You who were known by God in Heaven even before your own immaculate conception, chosen as the most blessed among women to be the vessel of the Word of God made flesh, the living tabernacle of the living Word, the holy of holies in whose womb the Son of God lived and grew, you who were hailed by the archangel as "full of grace", you whose "soul magnifies the Lord", you whom "all generations shall call...blessed", you whose arms enveloped the Son of the living God, whose milk nourished Him, whose kindness comforted Him, whose obedience presented Him to the Lord and whose Immaculate Heart was pierced by the dagger of His Passion and death. Holy Mother, who shall not recognize your perfect example, who would deny you the highest place among all creations of God? Who should refuse to seek the prayers of the holiest of all women, the new Eve who brought to the world the instrument of the defeat of sin, whose heal shall crush the head of the serpent and who was seen in Heaven, clothed by the sun and crowned by the stars? Holy Mother, help us to imitate your humility, who regarded yourself in a low estate despite being the most exalted of all humanity; help us to imitate your submission to God who said, "let it be done unto me according to thy word" and help us most blessed of all women to heed your command to do whatever Christ shall tell us to do. Holy Mother of God, bearer of the istrument of our salvation, pray for us all, now, and at the hour of our death. Amen. |
