Although dramas and historical films are my favorites, I do have a (perhaps unholy) affinity for horror movies (I know, I know--pray for me). Most have no great depth or meaning and are completely repulsive, but if you want horror, go for: John Carpenter's Halloween, The Shining, Nightmare in a Damaged Brain, Se7en, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Psycho, Night of the Living Dead and any of the classic Universal monster movies (though I hesitate including them here as some are illustrations of very deep and meaningful points).
