LEYTE
Going for a short walk Personnel Office Group

When my buddies and I appeared on the scene these people knew they were about to be photographed so they all went inside their home. After several minutes they reappeared and were now ready to be photographed.

There were civilian homes on the outskirts of our perimeter in all directions. It was an experience for the people of Dulag to become acquainted with their new neighbors such as shown here, a mother and child posing with two of my buddies. Laundry service was provided for a reasonable sum which was paid for with pesos and centavos. When movies were shown in our area in our outdoor theater, many of the civilians came to watch.

An unusual sight, having a horse to replace a couple of men for moving things around. The Private appears to be hauling water stored in five gallon containers. Never did find out who the horse really belonged to. Maybe it was from a Rent-A-Horse outfit in Leyte, just kidding. All I knew was that when we moved to the staging area, the horse was left behind and returned to it's owner.

In a couple of weeks we will be leaving this place for a Staging Area. Well, as soon as one gets used to a way of life, it's then time to move on. Never a dull moment.
