Computational applications to the study of complex equilibria and biomimetical systems. Prebiotic chemistry.
The development of observation and modelization of complex chemical systems have a great number of applications that span from engineering to the origin of life. A less classical approach to modelization of such systems uses cellular automata. These and other systems, categorized under Artificial Chemistry, are being developed.
Nucleotide prebiotic chemistry is an interesting aspect of chemical evolution and is being study using the techniques mentioned above. Several aspects of activated nucleotide association, polymerization, and hydrolysis are very important to understand the appearance of the first oligonucleotides on a complex chemical and physical environment. The spontaneous organization of open CSTR (continuous stirred tank reactor) systems containing activated nucleotides is a major interest for the future.
