A Hepatitis C Story
(...continued)
I could never understand what my folks saw in Madison. But now I found myself stuck there in that quiet civil war town in northern Florida. The place seemed to lack all the busy feel of all the towns back home, and had little to offer other than the most simple businesses and recreational spots. I was now alone in a town where I knew no one. The good Lord was kind enough to provide for my most basic needs, as earlier that summer I had been approved for a VA pension and was now able to take over where my mother left off with basic utilities and the monthly mortgage payment, which thankfully was quite small. But I never seemed to have enough to make it all the way through the month where groceries were involved, and I think everyone can agree that one must eat to survive.
