The Death Of A Spirit
This is the tale of the death of a spirit
And all who can hear it shake from their fears
For nothing is invicible, and nothing is solid
And a ghost only confesses after you've caught it

The spirit is dead, gone, and fled
To some place darker and nowhere found
The spirit of sin continues to thrive
And nothing can stop it from spreading around
Cause the holy one is gone
And cursed be the devil's spawn
But on more step and all that's left
Is the robber and the scenes of the theft

This is a song about God
And his laws that are down
One can fight, one can frown
But God is dead, and we are alive
But what can outlast God?
What can possibly survive?
The love of the few over the many
The gifts of less over those of plenty
And the faith that killed the spirits
And left them deaf to hear it

Cause heaven is up in flames
A nuclear bomb to blame
And I know we feel the same
You and I, above the ghost
Stronger than most that can't lift a pound
You and I, wiser than some
Have tried to let on to what we've found

But this is a story of worries
And incomplete stories yet to be lived
This is our tale, a tale we made
A chance we were given as a gift
The spirit is dead but we're still here
The path isn't clear but neither are we
I have stopped for some LSD
And a trip to a land of divinity
My vanity

What's gone is gone, or don't you look?
The book is the book is the book is the book
Our heaven is nothing and cloudless mirth
Our hell is a dearth or painless death
So can we die like the spirit did?
Can we live like the spirit did?
And will that be enough
To keep the spirit of love of love of love of love...

This is the tale of the death of a spirit
And all who hear it know how it feels
For nothing is dead but the spirit forever
We are alone - with a spirit, together
