Songs About Self-Abuse

A subject that has surfaced in my songs often enough to deserve its own category.  Though most songs here are about cutting, they span all types of self-abuse, from emotional to suicide to abuse in your imagination.  Very serious and depressing section.  Beware.

Angel Of Death - One of the most depressing nearly-love-songs I've written, telling someone that they're fucking you up, but you want them to.

Breaking Glass - Hurting yourself because you cannot stand who you've become.

Can't Stop Me - An honest and simple and straightforward song about finding the escape that one needs.

Lick My Wound - One of my classic songs, with music, that uses cutting as a metaphor for bad relationships, and asking a new partner to help you get over past relationships.  Or is it just a metaphor?

Lost Myself For A Little Bit - Looking back on a time of confusion.

Muddy - Very odd hard rock song that is not necessarily easy to understand - or one of my best songs.  But an interesting one nonetheless, that definitely fits in this category.

Papercut - Telling someone that no matter how hard they try, or what they do, they can't fade out from life completely...because they're still in your memory.

Red - My oldest song here, and my first about cutting.  I wrote this one in the middle of a church.  Very interesting, and very blunt.

Shards - My personal favorite song I've ever written...not necessarily about self-abuse completely, but it has themes of that throughout the song.  A very deep, emotional song, screaming out that nothing is going right, but somehow...it's how it has to be.

Short Circuit - Concerning school shootings, suicide, and cutting, all in one.

Skinscratch - Perhaps the best recent song I've written, this one got tons of great feedback.  Just read it, and you'll see what it's all about.

Tourniquet - It's all just an accident when this happens!  I didn't mean to!

You're The Chain
- A lyric about making someone else the chain that pulls you down under the surface and drowns you slowly.  Eek.

Your Secret
- A song about knowing someone is going to commit suicide, but not being able to tell anyone, because you want to honor that person's decisions.
