Sanity
My sanity creeps out the door
Showing its ugly head before
It morphs into something bright red
Oh skin - tonight you win
I'll sin and I'll sin
And forget my angels
I gave them all to my favorite strangers
Oh vanity, don't bury me
Give me back my sanity

An asylum on the crooked lawn
Where stood a man - now gone
Inside the building he commands
I can - I can forget
I can let myself forget
All that I've lost that never knew
All the crazy parts of you
Never understanding me
Until I lost my sanity

For God's sakes, if there is a God
If there is such a thing as a mistake
Well let it be that this is one
I'll be a lover, father, brother, son
And remember both these angels
Discard the jealousy of perfect strangers
Oh vanity, don't bury me
I want to have my sanity
