I had almost twice as many works as I actually posted for this update, but these are the ones that stuck out to me.  Some songs, some poems, mostly hybrids of the two like I enjoy writing.  A lot of introspective stuff, and I hope y'all enjoy them.

The Lost Wolf - First to hit the stage, this is a poem to bare the soul.  No secrets here.  Sometimes you must be vulnerable, even when you're the predator.

The Road To Chicago - Straight up songwriting, which I rarely do anymore.  I completely intend to write music for this one - tell me how you think it should sound.  It's a song about abandoning a possible future for a different one...hopefully a better one.

Hearts In Greyscale - This was originally titled "Halfway To Mourning", a play on mourning/morning.  I usually don't talk about changes, because revisions happen for a reason, but I think that perhaps the old title can shed some light on the subject matter.  The third straight introspective piece...and they don't stop here...

Rats Don't Run For Fun - ...Another blunt piece.  I didn't try to be political, or appealing, or anything, this update...just real.  This stuff is me.  More than anything.  And this poem is my feelings on how life can be a useless and futile endeavor.

The Hangman's Rope, Frayed - Time for a little thinking about death and phobias.  I tried a different strategy here - instead of rhyming every other line, I made them opposites of each other.  Try that on for size.

Rider - This is a ballad.  Yes, a ballad.  My first in half a decade.  It tells the myth of a goddess whom they call "Rider"...

Graffiti - A short, simple poem about writing that I think is very elegant.  Quality over quantity.

Poetry For Lack Of Paxil - Again, short and simple.  Playing with sounds.  Paxil is a depression medication.

Alleycat - This and the following poem are more for fun than anything else - just entertainment and poetry bundled together.  Nothing extraordinarily philosophical about either.  This has layers of sex, though.  Yes yes.

The Capitalist Puddle - Okay, maybe a little philosophical.  With a witty title.  What more could you ask for?

Pain Over Nothing - A short rant about preferring the realism of pain over the emptiness of a blank life.  My brother used to say sardonically "pain is good for the mind" whenever one of us would scratch ourselves, but I hold that to be true in many ways.  Enjoy!
Older Songs From Update July 13th, 2007
Well, I'm going both ways about this update.  It's even more personal than many of mine, and may seem somewhat depressed to a casual reader.  However, I hope the poems (and a few songs) from this update are enjoyable.  Please tell me what you think.

Translations - A heartfelt song with some powerful lyrics, one of the more positive of this update.  And one of the few with the standard chorus.

Angela - Very personal, even for my standards.  A poem that I hope is well-received.

Sabotage - I adore alliteration...I find myself using it as a poetic structure more and more.  This song is, again, indescribable by a few simple words.  Personal, yet again.

Russian Roulette - This poem concerns wastefulness, immaturity, and potential harm to those who aren't careful with their lives.  A comment on society.

A Song Of Bluffs And Bullshit - Very blunt, very honest.  Some deep thoughts, in prose.

My Beautiful Nicotine - The contrast between how bad something can be for you and how much you want it anyway...in song format.

Faith In Fiction - Have you ever wanted to pretend that it's all just fake, simply so you don't have to take responsibility for your own life?  That's what this poem/song is about.

Gunshot/Sin - A very morbid commentary on life, in five stanzas.

Liar/Sin - A themed title, containing a pun put to use in this song about lying.

Two Dozen Deaf Ears - Life is almost as unfair as our system of "justice" in this country.  The guilty roam free while the innocent have their lives affected forever.  Maybe I sound angry here - it's only because I am.

A Walk In The Dark - Don't ever underestimate the powers you have...how strongly your actions can affect other people.  A similar theme to the song above, I could fit this one to music.

Cancer Of The Heart - Wow, talk about depressing.  It may be near the bottom, but please check this out anyway.  I particularly enjoy the last verse.  It means a lot to me.

Turn Not From Love - A one-stanza poem, different from the rest in this update.  About love and how to handle it maturely.

Sonnet #1 - Stuck down here at the bottom for those of you who make it through this latest update, this is a poem in the style of an English sonnet.  I adhered strictly to the rhyming scheme, but added in one further complication - the entire thing is alliterated.
