Hardcore rock band Korn formed in the early 90's in Bakersfield, California, USA, and toured widley, playing over 200 showsbefore releasing their self -titled debut album 'Korn' for EastWest Records in 1994. Subsequently based in Huntington beach in California, the quintet, whose members Jonathon Davis (vocals), Reggie 'Fieldy' Arvizu (bass), James Munky Shaffer (guitar), Brian 'Head' Welch (guitar/vocals) and David Silveria (drums), released their first single 'Blind' which was widely shown on late night MTV shows. Thier first album gave them their commercial breakthrough and saw them cited in Billboard magasine as 'the first debut hardcore rock act at the top of the Heatseekers chart and one of the first to crack the upper half of the Billboard 200 in the last two years'. Much of this success arose from the reputation garnerd by their live work, which saw tours with 'Biohazard', 'Sick of It All' and 'Marilyn Manson'.Their second single, Shoots and Ladders, featured Davis playing the bagpipies, and rose up the rock charts.
Their second album, Life is Peachy, continued the anger, although further breakthrough success was limited by explicit lyrics liberally laced throughout. In late 1997, Korn established their own Label, Elementree. They also made the news by serving a 'cease and desist' order to the assistant principal of a Michigan High School, who had suspended a student for wearing a Korn logo on a T-shirt.
Soon after came the eagerly anticipated album 'Follow The Leader', which was recorded with help from Guns N'Roses collaborator, Steve Thompson. The album was a commercial and critical success, with highlights including 'It's On', the first single 'Got the Life', and the award winnig video for 'Freak on a Leash'.
Now, with thier latest album release
'Issues', including the hit singles 'Make me Bad' and 'Somebody Someone', and the next album in the recording studios, things seem bright for the Californian quintet.
