Out of the depths of Jacksonville comes Limp Bizkit, a band that has rode on the top wave of friends' support and a kick ass live show, only recently catching the attention of the 'mainstram mediea' music. Formed in late 1994 by lead vocalist Fred Durst, the band consisted of Sam Rivers on Bass, Jon Otto on drums and Wes Borland on Guitar. Legend has it, Korn's Fieldy and Head dicovered Limp Bizkit in the most indirect way. Using Fred's tattooing talents on the members of Korn, Fred passed on a demo tape to them, hoping to get some help from the fellow artists. Feildy and Head then passed the tape on to their label, who in turn fixed Limp Bizkit a place on the House of Pain and Deftones tour. On this tour, Limp Bizkit met their fifth and final member - DJ Lethal - Who joined when House of Pain split up in 96. Limp Bizkit was finally complete with a new hip-hop, heavy mixed rock, rap crazy demented sound that is unique to them.
Their first album, Three Dollaer Bill Y'all, was released in 1997, and soon followed by a touring frenzy with Larger-Than-Life on the ground breaking Family Values tour. This Cd was promoted by the band on some of the biggest tickets around, including the Warped Tour and the Ozzfest. The band also applied for a two month tour called 'Ladies in Cambodia', each night giving the first 200 ladies free admission. All of these amrketing plans paid off for Limp Bizkit, raising the sales of their debut album to over 1.5 million copies. Exploding into the mainstream music stream, propelled by a thrashing, rip-out-your-vocal-chords rendition of George Micheals 'Faith', Limp Bizkit kept up their momentum by releasing their second album, Significant Other, selling over half a million copies in the first week. With cameo apperances from MTV's Matt Pinfield, Korn's Jonathon Davis, Kid Rock, Method Man and even Fred's own Mother, this Cd brings the rap metal side out of Limp Bizkit as a follow up to their previos rockier album.
Their thrid, and most up to date dominant album chart-wise, album titled: Chocolate Starfish And The Hotdog Flavoured Water, was released in the Octobre of 2000, and has reached gobal success in only a matter of months. The chart topping album marges their previous two albums together, With the Rocier side Of Three Dollar Bill Y'all showing in such as My Generation and Hodog. The rap metal side to Limp Bizkit, prevoiusly shown in Significant Other, comes out in tracks including Rollin' and Getcha Groove on, not to mention their hit success with the MI-2 Theme Tune. And with featured artists such as Xzibit, Method Man, DMX and Red Man. it is clear that Chocolate Starfish... will be one of the Albums of the year.
