Check out the Marvel Comics adaptation of the Dark Tower. They started with a story from book 1 and have moved on to adapting book 4. While I would have liked some new material, it's good stuff and worth checking out. Ask your local comic shop for back issues.

Welcome to the Dark Tower Frequently Asked Questions File! It is lovingly maintained by Jordan C. Lund who lives in the great Northwest (Portland, OR) and may be reached at [email protected] if you have any questions, comments or corrections. Any and all input is most welcome!

It's been a long road since I started this as a lowly bookstore employee simply sick of answering the question "When's the next book coming out? When's the next book coming out? When's the next book coming out?" Heck, this site was even the reason I learned HTML in the first place, years later I even ended up teaching HTML if you can believe that... So what does the future hold for this site now that it's served it's purpose?

This August marks the 13th anniversary of the FAQ going online and my plan is, by the end of this month (hopefully by the 29th) to have the final revision available. Book 7 is out, it's over, it's done and it seems fitting to put the site through one final revision and turn out the lights. This revision will be the directors cut, special, 2 disc version though. I plan on including some easter eggs and older versions of the FAQ so you can see how this monster evolved.

All in all it has been a wonderful ride though and I've met quite a few interesting people through this site, to all of you who stuck through it this far, asking intelligent questions and (heaven forbid!) actually thinking about what you read, thanks very much. Naturally this site is dedicated to Mr. King, without whom... well, you know the rest.

All updated information on Mr. King and his health may be found at his own web page! www.stephenking.com Just remember who told you about it and come back here, OK?

This FAQ started out as a plain ol' text file posted to the Usenet newsgroup alt.books.stephen.king. A lot of people have been asking me to provide a guest-book or a chat room, but since ABS-K is already up and running (and it seems that more and more people haven't heard of Usenet news) I'll simply add a link to them HERE! Be aware that Usenet is a wild place filled with people who write about all kinds of things. Some folks exist purely to stir up trouble, they're called "trolls", not from Tolkein but from fishing. They're just itching to get a response. Ignore them and they go away soon enough.

If you're looking for other ways to get your Gunslinger Fix allow me to reccomend Dave Dorman's "Wasted Lands" site. Other than the title and certain thematic similarities there is no connection between his stuff and Stephen King, but if you like a good ripping tale then you should check him out. It also couldn't hurt popping by your local comic book store and asking for a copy of "Rail", but if you can't find one in your local store you can order one direct from the Wasted Lands. I guarantee it's worth the read. Oh, and don't forget to check his serialized story, "A Thousand Angry Teeth", down at the bottom of the page for a taste of what "Rail" is like. http://www.wastedlands.com

I'm also pleased to say that another favorite series of mine has edged it's way back into print. It's called The Matador series and it's written by Steve Perry. The first three books in the series make a cohesive trilogy and then others followed. Pop by your local bookstore and grab copies of "The Man Who Never Missed", "Matadora" and "The Machiavelli Interface" while supplies last! Some day I might even do a site about them...

If the Wasted Lands and the Matador novels aren't enough to sate your desire for western themed science fiction then I would be remiss if I did not mention the wonderful tv show "Firefly". You can get the whole show (botched by Fox when it was on) and very soon you'll be able to catch the new movie "Serenity", based on the show, as well.
