The History of Ignition GO!

Seven and a half years ago I (Reuben) met Jordan Clist at Waitakere College, back then at the tender age of 13 who would have known what the future held, as two young comrads we had no clue that we would one day be making music history! A few years later myself and Jordan met Anthony Symonds through a mutual friend - only to lose contact a few years later, From 2001 - 2004 I held a job at a cinema complex, not long before I left a young lady named Amanda Neto was employeed by the company.

After I left the cinemas Amanda introduced me to her brother Rodrigo. Over the years I worked at the cinemas, I met a lot of people, two of which included Joshua Boggs and Jayson Daji. About six months ago, a band was formed, Rodrigo on lead guitar, Jayson on rhythm guitar, Amanda on keyboard and Vocals, and myself on bass guitar. We called ourselves Musical Fruit, only to quickly change our name to Explosivo. We were very much amatures but had the desire to be huge. Unfortunatly there was a falling out between Jayson and myself, the Neto siblings agreed to carry on with the band with me, but we quickly fell apart and disbanded.

About two months ago as my 21st began aproaching, I had the idea and to perform at my birthday party in July. I recruited long term friend Jordan and former band mate Rodrigo. Both Jordan and Rod experienced with playing percussion, but they are both guitarists at heart. I then had the bold idea to invite Joshua Boggs to join our band, he had never played a real drumkit before, but was a pro at the drumming game located in the time-out section of the cinemas. Josh (or the Joshua tree as he was referred to by those closest to him) accepted our offer and joined the band. We called ourselves MIND THE GAP - a name that lead guitarist Rodrigo came up with. We began practising in my studio located in the basement of my house.

More complications arose after our first practice when The Joshua Tree left the band, he departed on good terms, with the reasoning that he didn't belive he could do us justice and would not be ready by the time of our first gig. This left us once again without a drummer. I had recently began communicating once again with Anthony Symonds, who had expressed his interest in the band, but at the time, the role of drummer was filled by The Joshua Tree. Naturally after Josh had stepped down, I invited Anthony to audition, he excitedly accepted. The audition took place in my studio, Jordan had other commitments with a side project so myself and Rod auditioned Anthony on his behalf. He was nervous but did not fail to impress us, we offered him the spot in the band, which he accepted.

Our band was once again complete, the future was ours, everything was great, until after some research i discovered four other bands with the name MIND THE GAP. A Hungarian underground band, an american pre-teen band who had disbanded, a 70s, 80s, 90s and todays pop rock covers band from the states, and a fast-paced punk band based in west Auckland. We had no choice but to re-evaluate our title, after much deliberation I came up with "Ignition GO!" a name which everyone agreed to. So here we are, the 4 of us practicing in my basement studio, for our first gig, my 21st, two months to go, only time will tell if we pull it off, stay tuned.
