Well, nothing much new has happened in Ignition GO! But I thought it was time for an update anyway, everything is going really well, there is three weeks left till my 21st, where we will be playing our first full gig, supported by 1000. When I say full gig, it will at least be more full than our last gig where we played 2 songs, so far we have 5 songs, and may add a 6th just in time for my 21st. Anyways, thats all for now. |
On Friday night I was finally able to contact Rodrigo and he agreed he would return to Ignition GO. Yesturday all four of us had a practice, alot was accomplished and it was one of the most fun practices we have ever had (in my opinion). |
As of Saturday 4th June 2005, Rodrigo Neto has quit Ignition GO! Details regarding his departure are still sketchy, but it seems our lead guitarest has given up on music. There is no anamosity between Rod and the remaining members of the band. It is uncertain if Ignition GO! will seek a new guitarest or remain a three peice. But check back for further updates. |
It seems the world was against us, and did not want us to perform the battle of the bands. Battle of the bands was to take place on the Thursday, so we had Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights to practice. MONDAY: Practice was schedualed to take place in my studio, we practiced for maybe 30 minutes, before the electricty went off. It was freezing, we had no way to power the guitar and bass amps, so there we were, playing around a candle in the dark, being unable to hear the bass and electric guitar, 9.30pm came along and we still had no power, practice had finished. To top things off my step father was given the beating of his life later that night, and is still in a very serious condition, I had barely any sleep that night. TUESDAY: Practice scheduled for Rodrigos garage, I was exausted yet still attended practice and gave 110%. We played between 7pm and 9pm, at 9pm Rodrigos neighbour invaded his property to abuse us, we politly apoligised and said we would end practice. This was not good enough for neighbour Adolf who refused to leave the area, there was very nearly a fight between Rods father and Adolf, eventually Adolf came to his sences and realised he could not single handedly take on 8 people, 5 who were grown men. Adolf left as did we. WEDNESDAY: Due to my exaustion, and work commitments, and Jordans commitments, practice did not take place, with the exception of a short 2 man practice including Jordan and Anthony. THURSDAY: We had to be at the battle of the bands at 6pm. I arranged to finish work at 4pm, hurried to Anthonys house, where I had to wait for him to prepare himself. We then went to my house so I could feed my Dog and pick up my Bass and other gear. We were then informed by Rodrigo that his train had not come and he was stranded in Mt Eden. It was aranged that Anthony and myself would fight our way through rush hour traffic to get to Rods and pick up his gear from his mother. We did so, and made it to the venue at 6pm, where we met up with Jordan. Rodrigo was another 30-45 minutes. We were to be 4th band to play out of 6 bands. We were fortunate to have 8 of our friends and family supporting us at our first gig. Unfortunatly we did not play nearly as good as we had during our practices, we were nervous and it was difficult to hear ourselves on stage, how ever we did receive compliments from our supporters, as well as the judges who compared us to At The Drive In and The Pixies. The organisers also complimented us. Obviously we did not advance in the compition but it was a great experiance, and was cool to see people nodding thier heads and enjoying our performance. Once we have more practice and more onstage experiance we will be unstoppable! I would personally like to thank our friends who were kind enough to come out and support us, it means a lot to me, cheers guys! |
Hey, it's been a while since I have written anything, but things have been pretty busy with me, working 50 hours a week, three band practices a week, as well as trying to have a social life. Things are only going to get busyier this week though, yesturday at band practice we decided we are going to enter the primal battle of the bands, the heats are on this thursday, so we have like three days to practice We have to do two songs and we only began learning the second one yesturday. Ah well, even if we don't do any good it will be a good experience, our first gig. |
