When did we first wear rubber boots

Most boot lovers can remember wearing rubber boots from a very early age, at least by the time they were 5 or 6 years old. Those living in towns wore them when going to school or playing out on wet days. If their town was lucky enough to have a fall of snow then again out came the boots for attending school or playing outside.

Those lucky enough to be brought up on a farm wore boots most days. All members of the family usually had jobs to perform and it was normal to wear rubber boots.

I wore them working on the farm cleaning out from horses and cattle all the time.

I wore them everyday on our little farm, in the pigsty and garden and when I was playing around with my sisters and my friends.

How old were we when we first wore
turned over boots

Most boot lovers seemed to have started wearing boots with the tops turned over in their early teens, about 12 to 14 years old. Some, usually those living on farms, wore turned over tops when aged 9 or 10 years old.

One lover wore turned over tops when only 3 years old though not his own.

My uncle's boots were already turned-over and I would wear them while walking
in his backyard. I would later turn over my own rubber boots when I was about 6 because other older boys wore theirs turned over and I was very
attracted to them (the boys and the boots).

Many others wore turned over boots that were not their own.

Might have been my Dad's or someones on the farm we used to go to on holidays.

The very first turned-over boots belonged to our neighbours young farmhand when he was drinking coffee in our kitchen.

I do know one boot lover who came to turned over boots late. He was 29 years old before he wore turned over boots but hes making up for lost time now.
