OBJECTIVES

STRATEGIES

LANGUAGE ARTS: (SCIENCE, SOCIAL STUDIES, MUSIC, PE)

Students will be able to access and participate in a high quality curriculum that will enable them to meet or exceed the California content and performance standards. Special attention will be placed on the needs of English Language Learners.

 

MATHEMATICS

Students will be able to access and participate in a high quality curriculum that will enable them to meet or exceed the California Content and performance standards. Emphasis will be placed on problem solving and critical thinking throughout the whole year.

 

ENGLISH LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT

All LEP students will meet the California ELD Standards for their current level and progress at least one ELD level per year as measured by the CELDT.

 

 

PREPARATION AND PLANNING

a. Analyze results of the 2002 Stanford 9 tests and use appropriate instructional materials to improve students academic achievement on the 2003 tests.

b. Demonstrate knowledge of the academic content of 5th grade by planning and delivering 5th grade level appropriate instruction.

c. Throughout the 2002-2003 year, I will have available evidence of:

   - weekly and long term planning

   - use of appropriate instructional materials

   - effective classroom environment

 

CLASSROOM PERFORMANCE

During the 2002-2003 school year, students will receive instruction as I:

a. Apply knowledge of the results of the 2002 Stanford 9 tests to plan and organize instructional strategies that will address students’ weaknesses and build on students’ strengths.

b. Apply knowledge and skills acquired in staff development to plan and deliver 5th grade level appropriate instruction to all students.

c. Give directed lessons related to 5th grade level content and objectives that will provide students experiences in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

d. Assign appropriate homework.

Through the 2002-2003 school year, professional skills will be maintained (punctuality, attendance, deadlines)

- Strategies contained in Open Court, Harcourt Brace Math, Hampton Brown Into English, Harcourt Social Studies, and Houghton Mifflin Discovery Works

  

 

 

- Lesson plan books, unit planning, application of staff development strategies and information. Current display of students’ work, clean and orderly, prepared classroom environment.

 

- Following lesson plan format, teacher’s guide. Higher levels of thinking, cooperative learning, visuals, manipulatives, and use of realia and SDAIE techniques.

 

- Complete records on time, meet deadlines, start on time, attend staff development on time, attend workshops and conferences, and encourage parent involvement. Serve as a role model for students.
