JULY 12 LETTER:
Dear everyone,
Berenice writes:
I am thinking of coming home for awhile. Although this is a lovely little village, without our own place to live there just would not be enough for me to do. After I have explored the village thoroughly and read the 5 books in English in the library, I cannot spend all day sitting in cafes. A hotel is limiting since you cannot shop from these wonderful markets and cook meals. We could find a place for 500 a month, but we would to make a long commitment. Jon is happy wherever he is. I guess I am not the traveler I thought I was and miss living in an English speaking country where I can socialize and make friends.
Jon writes:
I guess that Berenice has said it all:
Personal messages:
Leslie M: Brive is beautiful and just what I was looking for. Thank you:
Wendy Ma: Here is the alphabet typed on a French keyboard: qbcdefghijkl, noparstuvzxyw. You can see that a half dozen letters are in different positions. It is lovely and green here year round. The people are wonderful too.
Andy and Maureen: Have a great time camping in France. Thank you for writing:
Love;
Jon and Berenice
JULY 16 LETTER:
Dear Everyone,
Berenice writes:
I have decided to come home for a month or two so I can see all my family and get over my homesickness, but mostly be be with Terry during her hip surgery in August. Jon made all the arrangements for my flight from Paris. I will arrive at SFO on Delta Flight 8268 at 3:45 pm on Tuesday, July 20. Paul or Claude will meet me at the airport.
It is a long time for Jon to be alone, but maybe when I come back in September he will have found a place to rent in one of the villages in France. I have wanted him to come back with me but he prefers to stay. He loves the village and is learning French very fast.
Jon says:
I admire the incredible stamina of Berenice in putting up with me for 9 months. We have had a great time and have seen, learned and done a lot.
Personal Messages:
Kay and Don N: Don, I am sure that you are doing the right thing for mom. She needs just what you said. Berenice and I will stay in touch with her.
Julia: Congratulations. At last, a WSRA victory.
Cantara: Try Brive La Gaillarde. This is a new, corrected spelling.
Wendy Ma: Things will work out better this way. I will be seeing you soon.
Pam M: Hope to see you soon.
Leslie: Hope to see you soon, too.
Everyone: Berenice and I love your electronic letters and we love all of you.
