Playerkilling...
There comes a time in the lives of many players when simply killing non player-charactors (npcs) starts to lose its excitement. For these players, the life of a playerkiller sounds tempting. To become a playerkiller is a big decision, and one that cannot be reversed, other than players who's pk status is revoked (generally due to excessively anti-social behaviour). The life has many benefits, and a few pitfalls. As a playerkiller, you can attack and fight other playerkillers, and also steal from them. A death caused in a fight between one pk and another doesn't cost a life, so players need not worry that others can kill them out of the game out of spite. The only way one player can remove a life from another is by getting an assassin to inhume him. This is expensive, and cannot be done if the target is on their last life, so still isn't much of a threat. Anyway - here are a few of the benefits, and disadvantages of playerkilling.

Firstly a few benefits.

1. You get to test how much damage your attacks do in friendly sparring matches with friends.

2. You get to participate in the wonderful brawls that occur sporadically (generally in the temple of Small Gods). These are great fun, and I've known them to last over an hour, and leave corpses piled 50 or more high.

3. You get the wonderfully comic "playerkillers" channel on the talker - which is well worth becoming a playerkiller for on its own :P

There are other benefits too, but these are three of the more entertaining... however there are also some disadvantages too...

1. You can be stolen from by other players, who are generally far more skilled at this than npc thieves. Most however will happily sell stuff back to you, albeit at inflated prices - we all have to make a living don't we.

2. You can no longer just type "kill all" when you walk into a room, and fighting Kess of Sek or competing in Bar Brawls suddenly takes on a whole new fear, if you're in a group of playerkillers.

3. You may occasionally fall victim to an anti-social harrassment player. These are rare, and are dealt with in extreme cases by having their pk status revoked, but they do sometimes become a problem. Generally I've found, however, that if you treat people right, and refrain from the "you killed my friend so I'll kill you" mentality, then this isn't really a problem.

Harrassment is frowned upon severely - so a basic tip is -

DON'T DO IT! It's not big, or clever... and spoils everyones fun...

Ah well... thats about it for now - more will come here later, but for now -
