Gig diary

Wilkestock, Wilkes Head, Leek (31/07/05)

Strange one this. Dodgy thing was I actually turned up the day before all ready to play and really fucking nervous only to find out that I had the dates wrong. Ahhh more than a little typical. So me and Mike went out on the piss as per usual. The perfect way to relax before a gig, throw up in trops, wake up on the floor with an hour before you go on stage.. Anyways we made the snap judgement just before I left to play that my guitar sounded shite (sorry Alison.) So I borrowed Mike's Taylor and was away. Funnily enough I almost bailed earlier that morning. I got up early and very nearly walked home but Mike rang and told me "not to be a prick" so I changed my mind.The gig was actually really, really great. Hearing those words loud in the air, all those peeps from my past. Perfect. I played "Under your breath, part of her history, sober, she can never be you, all these years and river." A bit heavy on the covers but never mind. I'm glad I did "all these years", it wasn't finished but seemed appropriate, (although Fidge wasn't there :( ) Also, I accidentally started River in the same key as the Joni version (bad Capo judgement) but somehow managed to wing it...unbelievable. Also, sorry to Malc for perhaps leaving a little early, I didn't feel like playing "freebird" :)
