THE AMOUNT YOU LEARN DEPENDS ON THE PRACTICE YOU DO ON YOUR OWN
IT IS NOT ENOUGH JUST TO COME TO THE LESSONS
You Should Bring To Every Lesson
. A4 ring binder to put your music in
. Pupil Record book (from me) and a pencil
. Drumsticks 5A or 7A gauge
. Progressive Rock Drumming book by Andy Griffiths (including CD) - Music Exchange pubs
. Earplugs - the foam ones from Boots are fine, or industrial type Ear Defenders. Unless you play quietly, wear these when you practice or play with a band, or you will damage your hearing
You Will Also Need
. Drum kit
. OR
. Practice Pad - a rubber pad to practice on
Useful Optional Extras
. Cassette recorder+mic - make your own recordings/backings - v. useful learning tool
. Electronic metronome - for building technique
You Will Be Expected To:
. Practice for a minimum of 20-30 mins per day, every day, and record it in your record book
. Keep music sheets in your ring binder and bring them to every lesson
. Make sure you understand the timetable - lessons times vary each week
. Arrange absences from other classes, return promptly to them, and make up any work missed
. If you miss any lessons, find out that week's practice and do it
. Buy drum music - drum parts for all your favourite songs have been painstakingly written down by expert drummers/transcribers so you can play like Dave Grohl/Chad Smith/Lars Ulrich - buy them, use them, learn them, they will improve your life
