Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Stacey Grenrock-Woods began writing at a young age and eventually found her niche in the grand tradition of the humorous essay. She cites her acclaimed Junior High piece on the perils of air travel as "the first of its kind and an obvious inspiration to many."
Eventually, this young girl's fancy turned to entertainment, and she dedicated most of her adolescence to the pursuit of a lucrative career in the performing arts and tap dancing. However, when her supporting role as "Mindy the Quiet Pre-teen" on the Health Network's misunderstood series, "Crisis Counselor" was virtually overlooked come Emmy season, Stacey decided to turned her back on the glamour, enroll in college and chase her dream of being supported by relatives.
She began writing again and soon found herself reporting on the absurd for such magazines as Allure, Black Book, Bikini, and the Utne Reader. Later came failed television pilots and hopelessness. But, since joining "The Daily Show" family in early 1998, Stacey has finally begun to heal.
