ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD SIMULATIONS OF AUDIO CABLES, page 5

These are simulations of wires/cables carrying a sine wave at 20 kHz.  If the simulation mesh were infinite, it would have smooth even contours and edges.  The chunkyness is due to the finite analysis areas, hence there are sections at the gradient demarcations that show this mesh distortion.  In most cases, the EM field patterns should be symmetrical about a symmetrical pair of conductors.

Shows the magnetic field density of the classic ribbon type cable, ala Goertz, etc.

Note the very high magnetic field density between the two conductors, and that most of the field is contained within or very near the two conductors.

Shows the current density of the classic ribbon pair type cable

Note the increased current density at the inner edges of the ribbons.
