| Active games & group exercises Pretend play, Stretching, Flexing & Balancing Develops Good Posture, Strength & Flexibility Develops higher intellectual & social skills Movement Facilitates Brain Development Tots Kung Fu stresses the importance of physical activity. We have developed kung fu exercises for little people that utilises the large muscle groups and facilitate the child's movement skills. Kung Fu is studied for health and self defence. Our style Choy Li Fut is unsurpassed as a practical self-defence system because of its unique versatility. It combines sweeping hand techniques with kicking and fast moving footwork. Our study also consists of Tai Chi, Chi Kung and Yoga. All of these arts are taught to tots in simple and effective ways. We present exercise in a way that interests the children: Tots Warm up routines includes stretching, flexing and balancing. The exercises selected are suitable for small children they draw attention to their bodies, allow them to feel muscles, enjoy their flexibility and compare tight muscles with relaxed ones. Tots practice kung fu through pretend play and association. The most fundamental principles of kung fu are taught to our tots in a fun and supportive learning environment. After the Tots class, children may go on for further study at our Kung Fu Tigers (5-10 yrs) and Kung Fu Dragons (10-15yrs) classes. TODDLERS We encourage toddlers to develop movement skills that are building blocks for more complex movement tasks. Tots Kung Fu encourages creative expression through imaginative play. Research conducted by psychologists has found that children who do not play imaginatively are more aggressive and get into more fights with peers than children who do play imaginatively. PRE SCHOOLERS During the preschool years, children at Kung Fu Tots are taught to practice movement skills through a variety of kung fu activities. Instruction and positive reinforcement is critical during this time in order to ensure that children develop most of these skills before entering school. Reality play helps children hone important social skills. Tots Kung Fu group activities, teaches a child teamwork and shared responsibility. By adopting a physically active lifestyle early in life, children increase the likelihood of an active and healthy adulthood. Children develop skills through involvement in physical activity and parental involvement plays a significant role in children developing motor competence and enjoying physical activity. Your child will be more willing to engage in active exercise, if you do. We encourage parents to join in too!
